They have Apple //e or upgrade to //gs on ebay for cheap. you should be able to afford them now.

I loved that game! I think the oldest game I may have lying around is Zaxxon on a cartridge that plugged into the back of my old Commodore 64.

I think its Warcraft 1, but without looking through 200 cds, I can't be sure. I have some old 5.25 floppies dating back to '82 or so that have commercial games on them, but they weren't mine originally, so I don't count them.

For x86 stuff I have the set of Enchanter, Sorcerer and Spellbreaker text adventures on 5.25 Disk, These were Infocom sucessors to Zork.

For the Apple II I have Some of the first SSI Wargames, which may be as early as '78-'79.

Most of my Apple II stuff was copied, the Scott Adams adventures were great fun. I still have a binder full of Apple II disks but my son has the Apple II, so they are not of much use.

Anyone that is interested in old games should check on VOGONS (Very Old Games On New Systems). It's a forum specific to getting those old protected mode games (and even the older ones before them) to run on the latest hardware. They do this with various utilities like DOSBOX and software that somehow emulates an old sound card.

Sound is definitely the most difficult aspect of old games. They were typically written to work only with a handful of cards, or even just a SoundBlaster ISA card.

Microsoft Flight Simulator...the original CGA action flight simulator (actually I think it had support for CGA or external composite color monitors, but all we had at the time was a monochrome screen, so I watched my dad play it in amber!)

I have the original Starflight (the IBM version not the Tandy) with code wheel, map, etc. circa 1986. I have a lot of 5.25" floppies with older stuff like asteroids, zork, and other ascii or text based games from earlier but Starflight is the oldest one I still have with all the stuff with it. I might still have the original disks for Captain Comic, that is the first EGA game I remember playing.
