What is the worst thing you've ever done in your life?

This should yield up some interesting stories. What's the very worst, most inexcusable thing you've ever done in your life? How do you feel about it now? Do you look at yourself differently because of it? Thinking about the future differently because of it?

I need to rack my brain a bit for a firsthand story... other than some dumb/thoughtless stuff I did as a young (under 15) kid, nothing comes immediately to mind.

The first thing that comes to my head was once, in grade school, my friend and i invited this lame kid over to play. Before he got there we filled up a super soaker with pee and then shot it at him when he got there. He ran away and about 30 min later called me and said,

" I know what you did. i saw the bubbles. you put soap in that water"

We died laughing.

I feel bad about it now, but i think i would feel worse if he knew it was actually piss.

The worst thing I've done in my life is getting into so much debt from going to college for a degree I didn't want in the first place. I'm an electrical engineer, but I am much better at IT based things. Had I started college with the intent of doing IT work, I would have saved a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of effort. My parents didn't go to college so they didn't care what I did nor did I get any kind of guidance so going to college and taking out loans to pay for it did not seem that severe (I basically thought it was free money when I was younger and dumber) nor did my parents care how much I was taking out. It will affect me for a very very long time and I will make sure my kids don't have to go through the same crap I did.

I think one of the worst things I ever did was decide to bring over an old VHS tape from when I was a kid, during a party with my friends. I had a bunch of cool, more hip videos on there, while everybody was hanging out drinking. Pearljam, Soundgarden, Nirvanna, all that grungy type rock along with some cool other hard rock videos. Then all of a sudden the picture flicks out and on comes a Boyz2men video that I recorded back when I was in 7th grade and everybody just turned to me and started laughing their ass off.

My cheeks must have been bright red because I ran to that VCR, fast as lightning, popping the tape out and quickly tucking it away. Needless to say I had a tough time living that down.

I still can't think of a good one from adult life, so I'll post one from childhood.

I was about 11 or 12 years old and was trying to get into the swing of this "playful teasing" or "playful threatening" method of talking. Except I wasn't very good at it. I was trying to convince a younger kid (9 or 10) to come to an event and I told her, "if you don't come, I'll kill your pets."

....

Yeah, I was a dumbass kid. Scared her and she told her parents later and I got in trouble.

[edit] As little kid evilness goes, for me this goes up against the one time in 4th grade where I kept teasing the blind kid.

Banged your Mom. I was drunk, she looked good enough to me at the time but in the morning I would have chewed my arm off to get out of there if I had to. I'll never forget that awful feeling when I woke up the next morning and saw that beast in bed next to me.

I got into a fight with a neighbor kid when I was 11 or 12 years old. He started it, I was winning. A neighbor lady yelled at me from her patio, telling what a bully I was and how I aught to be ashamed of myself. Based on her reaction and, later, my parents' reaction, apparently telling her to "Mind your own business, you old bitch." was not an acceptable reply on my part.
