What is this connector?

I purchased a generic Chinese USB 3.0 expansion card. It does not come with any instructions.

I was wondering what the plug is on the back of the card that I have drawn a red box around? At first I thought it was to connect a USB 3.0 front bay, but the plug does not seem to easily fit the front bay connector shown in the second picture (don't want to force it) .

Any help would be much appreciated.

it looks like a generic IDC ( insulation displacement connector ( like an old ide connector) ) where the cable has been overmolded with plastic with 0.1" between centers

it should fit fine, maybe some of the molding flash didn't get cut away.

It's for a motherboard USB port. The 2 USB ports in the pickey are blue so it's probably USB 3.0.

Thats what I thought, but it does not seem to fit the plug in the second picture (without forcing). Maybe lifter is correct that some of the molding flash didn't get cut away, although I can't see where it is catching. Maybe I will take a dremel to the male plug and grind a tiny bit of material away

I think Billb2 is correct. If I look at the connectors on the new card, it looks like they aren't lined up quite right, which may be the problem. See if using some pliers to straighten them out will help.

If it's the physical housing, I'd dremel/scrape away either the plug or the housing. Shouldn't be too hard. Be careful with the pins if you do the housing though (I'd personally focus on the plug).
