I just found a cute Sony PictureBook Laptop use Transmeta Crusoe? processor, What is that? How good it is in term of hardware and software compatible , and performance ?
Anything thats being described as "cute" for a computer, I'd stay away from it.
Anyway, the Crusoe is the processor developed by Transmeta that only dissipates anywhere from 1 to 3 Watts of power. Thats really low compared to the 15 to 30 Watts dissipated by other laptop CPUs. The Crusoe isn't very powerfull though and relies on software for it's x86 code.
The Crusoe is a cpu developed by Transmeta that is developed to make laptops run coooler and their batteries last longer. If you are considering buying a picturebook I would think that this processor would fit just what you needed.
and dont forget our best friend Linus is one of the head developers of the Crusoe, its actaully a cool idea but no its not as powerful as a Cray heh, but if you hate recharging your lappie battery every 5 minutes, its somethin to think about

It's releatively slow compared to a mobile Celeron at similar clockspeeds. Say a 600MHz Crusoe = 400MHz Celery, but is comsumes much less power, and so prolongs battery life drastically over competing designs.
