what is up with all the dumb posts recently?

I think by far the WORST posts are the ones where people just click the Quote button, add none of their own thoughts, and then hit the Reply to Thread button...

How is this an acceptable method of increasing post count since it is so important to people here, but Neffing is not allowed??

At least Neffing takes some effort!!

Sometimes people actually share similar thoughts and when someone expresses them first, you tend to voice agreement both in RL or on a message board

As far as Neffing not being allowed, you'd better tell Pyonir (just an example your definitelty not the only one doing it pal ) since he and others often just shows up in threads says something like

and I've yet to see anyone including the Mods say dick about it!

Perhaps the forums should have a new type of lock. There will be a button on every thread is a waste and lock it. It may not be perfect, but I think it is a great idea. The same thing can be done with people. If enough people complain click the button on a certain person, the mods will know there is a troublemaker afoot.

Who are we to judge if one post is good or another is bad? Ok, granted some posts are easily and obviously "bad" posts, but then again they might be "bad" posts to us, but good/great posts to others. Order will be restored to the galaxy, uh, I mean ATOT. Patience is a virtue...

Even while we're losing good people, we're gaining bad people *cough cough* jerboy *cough cough*. No longer can i confidently stand up to my friends who are supporters of Hard Forums and Off-topic.net without thinking "will I win this time?" I remember the days when I would always have confidence when going into those arguments, but no longer... >>

To clarify my position, I don't mind the occasional "AOL chatroom thread". I even join in the fun on occassion. It's the people that feel they have to post just a smilely face or the one line " look at me" posts that I think is contributing to problems. They just clutter up the thread, disrupt the flow of the fourms and do not contribute anything useful at all.

Look at the number of them in this thread. Waste of bandwidth is all they are.

The members cannot do anything and the mods don't seem to care about it.

If you don't like it, well this is OT after all. Started to move the religious threads out of general hardware, not to be a place for someone to acculmulate 20,000 posts of .

Rotflol, I wasn't addressing you dude, I know exactly what you are saying. No, my comments were meant for the person who saw fit to use my "hi I'm up,check in" thread in his example of useless threads. All that said, I will keep an eye on my posts and quality check the suckers before pressing the "reply to thread " button.



Edited to add that I too have found the board a bit boring yesterday, however, I understand that cyberspace like real time life is sometimes boring and while I can hope to be entertained I have no right to demand it. Oh well, at least I finally got some much needed sleep and good humor and hopefully sanity has been restored at least temporarily
