what is Windows Media Center Edition?

Does it look/feel the same as Windows XP? I mean I hope the whole OS is not the interface that is shown in the screen shots. All I have seen of it is a completely blue screen with some links in the middle. Kind of like the XP Home Edition user login page.

Is it the same interface as XP in regards to a start bar/start menu apperance? What exactly is it?

Media Center edition is just Windows XP Home but with some extras such as:
- a new theme
- Media Center (that's what you've probably seen in screenshots. MCE usually boots into Explorer like Home and Pro do, and there is a shortcut on the desktop to Media Center)
- Support for 5 remote connections (for Media Center Extenders)
- and more
It is essentially for use on a Media Center PC, which has a remote control, tv tuner, high end processor, high end graphics card, and plugs into a TV if you really want. You can record tv, radio (if radio is on your tv tuner), HDTV (if you have an HDTV compatible tuner), and other things such as music and photo handling, and more.

Exactly, but 2005 is actually based off of XP Professional. Joining a domain is disabled, though.

Can you slap that on any system with a TV tuner? I've got it in my MSDN subscription but I've never installed it anywhere.
