No. You said "Who cares about the UI that the user sees? It has no bearing on how an OS feels or performs. The deep internals OTOH do." when I said that only the very deep internals of NT resemble VMS in any remote way.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying the window manager shares code with a version of OS/2? (presumably OS/2 1.2 then? But that was 16-bit -- IBM had to write the 32-bit version of OS/2 themselves, i.e. OS/2 2.0 -- NT's oft-rumoured OS/2 connection is dubious at best)

Actually, No. OS/2 and NT are linked more strongly than you believe. Microsoft and IBM were working together on OS/2 2.0 until it came time to decide what the operating system looked like. When Microsoft insisted that it look like their Windows product, the collaboration fell apart and Microsoft left the deal with the code for OS/2. They then went on to use that code in NT.
The NT + OS/2 connection is no rumour.
