My biggest issue is the disgusting vomit 2,700k everybody insists on using...that or a hideous blue 6,500k. You can't get a decent 4,000-5,000k white bulb anywhere it seems.

Has anyone got any experience with the cheap LEDs coming from China? At Amazon or Ebay, LED E26 bulbs typically cost $3 each, not much cheaper. At Ebay, however, if you look, you can find a lot of LEDs selling for about $1 each with free shipping. Of course, shipping from China is apt to take a long time.

I'm seeing these bulbs represented as having life expectancies from 20,000 hours to as high as 80,000 hours. Seeing warm white or cool white offered usually.

Any experience with these?

They are cheap crap manaufactured in cheap factories. They're cheap enough that you can cross your fingers and hope.... and it might work out.

Basic name brand stuff (60W, non dimmable) is $1.53:

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Equi...AL1EMY/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1501587330

For something with a lifespan measured in years I'll take the known quantity.

I scoured Amazon for low light output bulbs (my neighbor complained that the light I leave on in my bathroom is bothering him). I figure between 120 and 280 lumens may do. I have this in my cart. Maybe a little bright. I went for the Ebay one instead because it seemed more likely to suffice for a very low light output application and I have need for 3 of them (hallway, bedside, bathroom). Can't go too far wrong for ~$7, I just have to wait a month or two for them. Just 2 watts!

how close is your neighbor to your bathroom

also tell him to F off and get a curtain
He admitted that he should work on shades and/or curtain for that problem. He just moved in. His window is around 12 feet (?) from my bathroom. No one in that house ever complained about it before. I did get complaints when I left the outdoors light on at night, though, but not the bathroom light. I'm not worried about it.

2700K bulbs won't keep you awake like the 5000K and hotter ones will.

i know this, does not change the fact that at the same wattage/lumens orange light still looks dim as shit
Maybe someday we'll have lights that you can change the color temperature at the switch! That would be real nice.

They arrived today, Aug. 10. I was surprised, figured it would be weeks before I got them:

Estimated delivery Tue, Aug 15 - Tue, Sep 19

They were packaged amazingly well, with a ridgid plastic structure with air filled chambers that had been fashioned specifically for the 6 bulbs (the listing was for one and I ordered 6). They seem fine. I don't see any danger of electrocution, the cap is secured well, doesn't just come off or twist off easily (I tried).

The listing:

New Energy Save LED Light Bulb E27 E26 Lamp 2W Cool White/Warm white AC110V-220V

2W - Only 2 watts - I have night lights that consume more
I bought a 20 watt 5000K LED light for My front porch , it's like DAYTIME out there !
I then bought three 10W 5000K motion lights for the other 3 sides of the house. The rear one is up and is just right !

2W is not a lot but is OK for where I have a lot of my sockets. It's a night light, righto. It lights a room or corridor enough where I can traverse without bumping into things. I can leave them on 24/7 and barely inflate my electric bill. I also bought some 3.2W bulbs off Amazon at $1.50 each in a package of 6. They are rated at 3.2W, 270 lumens. The 2W are rated 180 lumens.
