Isn't this true for guys too, though? If a girl is cool, but you aren't really attracted to her, you tell her you just want to be friends.

It is for me, that said I'm good friends with girls I am attracted to (as in I think they are good looking), but I prefer the friend for the most part (way too much baggage comes along if you go for friend to dating. Especially if it goes messy and you end up hating eachother). *shrugs* I'd rather be a friend and have them in my life than block them out. At least that way you can give them a degree of caring.

See a trend? I'm not saying this works for all women, in all circumstances, but being on the end of the "friend" line, I didn't get any. The further I stayed away from being the guy that would pick you up when you're drunk, the guy who would fix your computer or the guy would buy you coffee when you were broke, the more I got what I wanted.

a couple of them with women.and boy if I had a buck to every "she done me wrong" song I've listened to over the years
as they entered and exitied relationships/marriages I'd be rich.

Did you really _read_ what munruss had to say? He sounded more like he wanted to get some action vs get nothing at all. He wanted to get what her b/f was getting vs getting the cold shoulder from her. It sounds more like munruss is just a pathetic little puppy dog, looking for a handout and it doesn't sound like he's going to get it.

I'm not bashing women (contrary to belief), all I'm stating is that he'll need to change his attitude to get what he wants (in a timely manner). Doing what he's doing now isn't going to get him anywhere real quick, I'm just trying to make it as obvious as possible for him to notice it.

I'm not some weak little puppy dog waiting for her to say I want you. When she said that she now has a boyfriend, I filtered her out. Now, the crap she is doing is out of my control (i.e. calling, planning NYC trips). I won't go into the city with her because I'll be wasting my time and money.

I agree with that. In one case I really like this girl a lot I just dont' want to turn it into anything more becuase I'm afraid I'm gonna lose the friendship. I'd rather have her there and hangout becuase its so much funner hangin out w/ her than gettin some. Hell, if I never got some from her I wouldn't even care. Usually, if they dont' want anything they have hot friends too...so if you treat her right and pick her up when shes drunk, fix her computer, all that crap she'll think highly of you and talk to her friends about you...so you meet her hot friend and the first thing they say is I've heard so much about you and want to get to know you too. The problem is when you're too puss to pursue anything w/ the chick and the chick won't hook you up with any of her friends cuase shes the jealous type. Then you're just stuck tryin to hangout w/ her as much as possible cuase it makes you happy and you know the best times both of you have are together.

How about the option of "getting what he wants" via the direct route of sharing his feeling with the lady ? If she declines he can then decide whether he wishes to remain a friend or not ?

That method is definitely the more direct route and what I tend to go for. I don't beat around the bush (much) and am pretty direct in my feeling and what I want from someone. *I* can easily go with that, but that's my personality, it doesn't work for everyone.

For munruss, I'd say change the attitude around, it'll probably work better than the current method.
