Turkey with no cheese, lettuce, onion, vinegar, pepper and oregano on 7-grain or wheat bread. For a side, I eat it with a small bit of Gouda cheese.

I worked on this style of sandwich for quite a while before I got it like I wanted it. Takes a while to get everything ready, but it's delicious.

Whole wheat bread. I use the honey whole wheat from Whole Foods generally.
Soy mayo with a little lemon juice
Irish Dubliner cheese, fresh. I slice the cheese fairly thick compared to most cheeses. No other cheese works as well with this sandwich.
Honey turkey from Plainville. I get this fresh at Whole Foods.
Turkey bologna
A good hard salami
Apricot and ginger "mustard" spread
Baby Lamb's Lettuce (mache) or sometimes a baby arugula
Olive oil glaze on the top slice of bread

It's outstanding, seriously. I'll mix it up sometimes, using a good chorizo instead of the salami. The whole sandwich just has the right amount of sweet (apricot), spice (ginger, salami, chorizo if I use that; the mache also has a slightly spicy character) and feta-like pungency (the Dubliner).

Gyros!............ maybe it's more of a flatbread (Pain In The Ass) type of sandwhich.

All I know is, KING GYROS ROCKS!

Gyro w/Feta cheese and some Cucumber sauce= YUMMY!

..turkey.

...is the number one choice for sandwich meat and BORING. However, even a turkey sandwich can be tasty with the right veggies and sauce.

You need to get better turkey then. Turkey is an excellent base for a sandwich, but a cheap turkey tastes horrible.

Speaking of which, has anyone here made a montecristo at home? I've been thinking about making a cuban sandwich (hold the pickles for me), battering it, and deep frying it. However, I don't have a good batter recipe for such a monstrosity. Any suggestions? I know I could google, but then who knows if it's any good.

A good working batter for that type of sandwich is Krusteaz Pancake mix. Straight if you like it sweet or a pinch of salt, pepper and, herb of choice for a more savoury coating. Use plenty of toothpicks.

Hmm, do you make the batter a little thicker than you would for pancakes?

I will give this a try and post pics

I just do the ham, American cheese and sweet onion on bad white bread. Have two of them....

And Jimmy Johns, The Gargantuan....
This sandwich was invented by Jimmy John's brother Huey. It's huge enough to feed the hungriest of all humans! Tons of genoa salami, sliced smoked ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey & provolone, jammed into one of our homemade French buns then smothered with onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, & our homemade Italian dressing.

This little old lady at my old work used to make the most amazing sandwhich. It was smoked turkey salad with bacon in it (and some other stuff). My god. I miss that sandwhich .

This weekend we did ginger-soy-citrus tuna steaks on the grill, I took leftover steak and made tuna salad with sliced scallions and wasabi mayo. Had it on toasted sesame buns with sliced avocado, leftover cucumber salad (basically just thinly sliced cucumbers, red onions, rice wine vinegar, a little salt and mirin) and spring mix on it. So good. Like a tuna roll sandwich.

Cubans are great when I have leftover pork roast...

Another easy favorite is to take leftover steak, cut it up into bite-sized bits, mix with lettuce, tomato, red onion and shredded cheddar, some mayo and hot sauce and stuff into a toasted pita.

Speaking of steak, also like to take leftover steak, slice it thin, put it on a good roll, cover in fresh mozzarella and put it under the broiler for a minute til cheese is bubbly. Top with sliced tomato, serve openfaced. Maybe some gravy on top if I have some on hand (good user for leftover roast).

ooh, or the unbelievably bad for you grouper reuben. Same thing as a regular reuben, but instead of pastrami, fried grouper. mmm...

Probably my favorite though is a nice, fresh half oyster-half shrimp poboy. Dressed. Oh god, I'm drooling just thinking about it. Ah, or a debris poboy from Mother's. Or a Ferdi.

Dammit, I'm hungry.

PS if you like sandwiches, you should watch Rick Sebak's Sandwiches That You Will Like. I love his documentaries...

Now that has me thinking of Banh Mi, another favorite!

I'm working on perfecting a kind of a philly cheesesteak sandwich.

Beef with seasoning, carmelized onions and cheese. Yum!

As long as there are quality roast beef and turkey breast meats in between any sandwich is good to me.
