Microwave dish on the roof pointing at a cell tower type internet. I could upgrade to 50/15 for $150 a month or go back to the only option for a wired connection which is 6/1 AT&T DSL for $60 a month. My subdivision was built without cable infrastructure and I am one street too far away for 18Mpbs Uverse. Any other option involves craptastic satellite internet which is just unacceptable. Even my Verizon 4G connection on my phone tops out at 20Mbps here.

Downside of living outside the city in a town of 2,000 people there are not enough customers to justify infrastructure installation.

Yikes, I feel like I should say a prayer for you or something!

I consider myself really lucky that we got fibre here. Normally only the big cities get the nice stuff but they found that it's actually cheaper to provide service to smaller cities as it's less complex as far as infrastructure goes. The project cost around 10 mil or something like that, I forget the actual figure but it was relatively cheap. They only did overhead cable plant though.

I would pay $5 for 5x upload. Over 3x download speed would just be a bonus.
Oops, my upload is actually 2Mbps (generally tests around 2.5). Still not that great but I don't have any problems since I only upload the occasional picture or 2.

100mbps for $85. Was upgraded last week from 60mbps for the same price, called to cancel but they upped the speed and my wife wanted the faster speed the competition couldn't match.

Someone already did.

But if it makes you feel better, I got 6.4 Mbps down, and 800 Kbps up. 35 Euros/month.

15mbps at $40 is ~$2.66 per mbps
25mbps at $100 is ~$4.00 per mbps

Herr Kutz has a better value than me. But you are at ~$5.80 per mbps so you win, my condolences.

5.5Mb/s down and 750Kb/s up.

All for the low, low price of $87/month.

Rural America is internet screwed.

Best I could get in Montreal before I moved last year was around $65/mo +(lots of) tax for 60mbps down, 10mbps up (cable) with Teksavvy. Now in Edmonton I have Shaw 150 (cable) which is actually QoS'd at 180mbps download, 16mbps upload. I pay $49.95/mo (with much less tax!).

I'm waiting on a fibre build here that would get me 185mbps down, 185mbps up, but even with employee discount I would still pay more than Shaw 150. But it would be worth it on account of the upload rate alone, even if don't upload that much.

Internet services in Canada are lagging behind pretty far compared to some countries, but it's slowly getting there. The situation between incumbents and third party internet access providers is still pretty sad.

nominal 3 Mbps down / .512 Mbps up
Of course the modem's probably connected at 2.36 Mbps currently - guessing.

The line could support 10Mbps max.

I'm getting 24 Mb/s down and 5Mb/s up from Frontier. It's a VDSL product, formerly called UVerse when at&t serviced this state.

I highly doubt that we'll be getting an upgrade any time soon. Frontier is on the verge of bankruptcy due to a bunch of botched mergers, so they won't be laying out any infrastructure upgrades any time soon.

$44.95 a mo. Spectrum 100mb service
Measured..
118mb down
12mb up

I have spectrum too (in TX, and formerly TWC), and I'm on their 100mb plan, but I get 200/20 (235/25 really) and still pay the 100mb plan.

When it was TWC, the 100mb plan gave me the 100mb speeds, but my modem (SB 6141) could handle higher, but I guess TWC locks the channels or something. But once Spectrum took over, guess they unlocked it and now I get 200mb. I'm not complaining.
