I've got several, but here's the big one:

-A game that combines Silent Hunter, Battlefield, Supreme Commander, and Falcon 4.0. It's online or offline and you can command battles and assign other players to take a first person role in them (flying aircraft, captaining ships, manning tanks, etc) all in a huge, real-time world. Bridge out on a road? Send the construction guys out or find a way around. Power plant off-line? Looks like no lights for grid B8. Poor weather? Send out the strat-bombers.

Now for fun:
-World of Fallout
-A new game using the Final Fantasy 3 (SNES) engine and with great music and a great story.
-A real Master of Orion 3
-A new Syndicate game
-An MMORPG based in the Babylon 5 universe

What is your dream game that doesn't exist?

*Everything* is missing from today's PC and Video games

Now that i really think about it - i AM playing 'that dream game' - it exists right now! - and it is far more complex than any "PC" or "video game" than i ever encountered anywhere.
--i guess i am actually playing inside a Bigger Self-developing Sandbox with my Own individual self-developing sand-box & using a very limited set of Dev Tools that allow 'me' to adapt to everyone else's self-developing sandbox & tools so that we can make any "life" an 'adventure' for ourselves or not.

PC games apparently just strive for that alternate feeling of realism with the amount of complexity that allowed to the Devs by practical considerations that is far "safer" .. although the Ending May be the Same.

Yeah except gold farming takes WAY too long.

would that be a FPS or a RTS?

A bit of both! But seriously, being a conductor, trackman, switch operator on the worlds largest subway system would be awesome!

I'd like to see team based FPS incorporate more RTS elements. For example, a kind of mash-up of Battlefield 1942 and Company of Heroes. To bridge the gap between the number of players typically found on a Battlefield server and the number of units that you find in most RTS games, you would be able to give each player control over a certain number and types of AI units. Battlezone 2 used something like this. (The MMO game 10*6 also comes to mind as incorporating a first person shooter perspective with the commanding of AI units against other players and their units.)

For example, if you played as an infantry class, you would have a squad that you could command of AI units (sort of like Rainbow 6 single player). If you were a class that drove a tank, you would have other armor as wingmen.

The ability of your team to give members better equipment and squad mates would depend on resource collection and base building. A commander class would be responsible for directing this, though the other players would play a role in capturing points where more resources could be accessed.

a scientifically based, extremely deep, terraforming simulator featuring multiple planet types ranging from the completely atmosphere-less rock to Venus type planets to Mars type planets to moons of giants.

I want to be able to have a plethora of stats about the planet as I add or subtract things. For example, if I add loads of CO2 or Methane, I want to see the effect visually on a very pretty globe as well as see updated statistics. If order to prevent people from just dumping whatever they wanted, it could be set up to use a money based system where the planet is being terraformed for profit. You'd likely have to start with various types of enclosures on the planet in order to generate cash through agriculture or mining various resources, then use that money to finance further technologies and terraforming processes. Each enclosure's purpose would also effect the gases and other materials that it exports back into the planet. A mining enclosure could be pumping various pollutants and undesireable gases into your fledgling atmosphere, for example.

I also want to see a random planet generator in this game, in addition to archetypes. I want to click a button and have it generate a world somewhere within the habitabilty zone for a randomly generated star. Come to think of it, a random solar system generator would be better because then you can create the star, your world, other planets (including gas giants), as well as cometary bodies and asteroids. Your world could have a nice 23.5 degree tilt like Earth does, or it could be completely lopsided. If it didn't have a satellite orbiting it, it'd wobble and you've have to find ways to compensate for it.

Sounds like an awesome sim game to me.

LOL, sounds deep.

Oh man, I just want a decent RTS that has strategy. Europa Universalis doesn't make any sense to me.

A fighting game like tekken, except there are no predetermined frames of animation. All animation is controlled by the physics engine.

I want Blizzard, when WoW has finally ran it's course, to rework the game into a single player RTS style game. I want them to focus mainly on the raiding dungeons.

One player in control of the whole raiding party, being able to pause the action and queue up spells or even set macros up for all of the characters.
No loot squabbling, Ninjas, or any of the other crap that kills the fun with MMORPGs.

Heck, if they wanted to they could make it co-op, or even have realms where many people play but everyone is in control of whole guilds instead of individual characters.

Interesting that we haven't seen one of these as it would be hugely popular and even easy to create with todays technology. I think what has deterred these game in the past is that they were so small and easy to pirate.

Did you play Nexus: The Jupiter Incident?

You must. You simply must.

You guys will shoot me for this.

Second Life comes very close to what I consider the ultimate MMO. A universe where there is no story-driven content. The stories are made by the players. A player's actions have a real effect on the universe, and not just within the confines of a mission or quest.

What I'm suggesting is so broad, it's probably unfeasable.

Ooh, I never thought of that! That would be awesome. Has there ever been something like an aircraft carrier simulator? I can't think of anything, at least nothing recent, that would really be like that.

It exists. The only problem is getting past Derek Smart's giant ego.

I want a new game in the Freespace universe.

The problem with that is figuring out how the player is supposed to control the character. If you want realtime fighting and a tempo anywhere in the ballpark of Tekken, you simply can't give total control of a character to the player using standard (mouse, kb, stick, pad, wiistick) peripherals. Inputs need to be simple and limited. Check out Toribash and you'll have a good idea of what is keeping your dream game from being made.

Natural Selection 2.

And, a RTS that doesn't focus on speed, but strategy. And is so deep, that there is no "best" strategy. you don't learn from the best players, you find your own style.
