What is your favorite Android keyboard and why?

Another interesting keyboard is Minumm keyboard, because it's very small, only a few lines tall compared to most keyboards that take a third or even half of the screen. The only problem I have with it is that it is annoying to input words that aren't in its dictionary. If only they had Swiftkey's prediction.

I hadn't heard of that one before, but I'm trying it now and it's actually pretty slick. It's tough because I'm so used to one handed swiping that I can't switch to tap typing easily, but it's working pretty well. I don't see why they couldn't add that type of input in the future though, so maybe by then I'd be willing to pay for it.

I thought about it a little more, and I don't think swiping would be possible with a single line of characters. Every input would just be horizontal lines that start in one spot and ends in another which limits the possibilities a bit, but not enough to know what characters in between you meant to include. You'd have to have at least a little more of a keyboard than just one line to make swipe work I think, but it could still be compact.

Thumb Keyboard mostly. But I generally rotate several on the various devices I use, just to mix things up. I've probably tried all the best ones. I've got minum, Swiftkey, and perfect keyboard on my N3 as well as thumb.

I've been using Minuum for a good while and I generally like it.

For actual tap-tap typing, Fleksy might be faster (except for the case where the keyboard doesn't guess right the first time, Minuum is faster here), but Minuum is so compact. It's hard to go back to larger keyboards.

And overall, it does a great job of knowing what word I want. I do wish its next word prediction were better. Second place goes to Swiftkey for me.

I use Google Keyboard. It works great and I've been using it since it got swiping capability.

i liked swiftkey for a long time, but then i got thumb 4. it has a split mode for landscape ease, it also allows me to have all the keys slid to one side or the other so its not so hard to one-thumb on my note 3. custom themes and backgrounds, and fully customizable keys. the only thing that is weak is their predictive words, its kind of stupid most of the time.

Yep, though the topic itself is timeless. And Swiftkey :biggrin:.

For those who haven't used it in a while, it now has swyping-like functionality, has the capability to minimize the keyboard or shove it to just one size (or even have it floating) -- and in the beta there is even a dedicated number row if you want.


I've tried other keyboards, but so far I always switch back to SK.

Kii Keyboard!

Absolutely this!! I can't believe Kii doesn't have another mention. I've used almost all the other keyboards mentioned, and Kii > everything else.

Swiftkey has been great for me because of two things: excellent word prediction (that's stored in the cloud so it doesn't have to relearn everything if you switch phones), and multiple languages at the same time. Fantastic for people who are bilingual and often switch language in the middle of a sentence.

Now that it's free (and has the option of showing a number row at the top of the keyboard - this one is especially for you, DLerium! ), there's no reason not to try it.

Is there a keyboard that has a .com key? Also, is there one that has a period available without having to press shift, regardless of whether you are typing numbers or letters?
