DO is Doctor of Osteopathy. Similiar to a MD degree. The difference, as it was explained to me by a DO friend is an MD treats the condition or illness and a DO treats the whole patient. Sort of a different philosophy. Read all about it Here.

Given my proclivity for academia, I have two bachelors degrees (and four minors), a masters, and I'm currently working on a PhD.

As far as your question is concerned.... I think there is SOME truth to it. But it would be interesting to see how many people were racist/raised in a racist household and then later (after more education) changed their mind. I think it also has a STRONG correlation to your exposure to true diversity.l

Also don't forget that MANY things people call "racist" are actually "class-ist" (meaning: they have to do with income levels and/or education). And while I've seen LITTLE out and out racism among highly educated people, I've seen a great deal of classism. Not all people are like this, of course--but its MUCH more common.

I'd have to agree with this. The uneducated are perhaps less sophisticated in their expressions of racism and intolerance but I haven't experienced any obvious general lack of same in the educated. I've known all kinds of people in my life and there have been bigots, sexists and racists aplenty in both the educated and uneducated.

Nicely said, I do have one small disagreement with this statement though. They're not liberals, most liberals died out years ago they're leftist the most closed minded mean spirited bunch of people you'll ever meet. Colleges and Universities turn them out in droves with a propaganda laced educational system.

I remember this thread and I have thought about it a little. I think that there probably little differences regarding raceism, sexism, etc and education. It is just that the more educated know not to be crass about it and do it openly.
