What is your photography ?
What do you take pictures of ?

I personally take pictures of high school football, out door landscape and then some random thing such as a light box and such.
I normally try to post my best shots on my blog
www.inkedpaper.com
But when I took football pictures I had a XTI and with my 75 - 300 f/4 - 5.6 I had few good shots.
High school basketball is coming up and I am excited !

So i was wondering what to my fellow AT'ers take pictures of ?

For fun and personal enjoyment I do landscapes.

For money I do weddings and portraiture mainly, but could be hired to do sports.

Mostly landscape and architecture. I've shot a wedding once (for free for a relative) but did not enjoy the experience. I also like taking candids of people

Whatever looks interesting.

I've shot architecture, landscapes, nature (but I don't really have a good lens for birds), sports, etc...

alfa, buy yourself a nifty fifty (50/1.8) and try to "capture the scene" (also known as "show the emotion").

Interestng sights. I travel extensively and create photo DVDs of jazz festivals and cruises that combine music, musicians, and fans. I am also the photographer for a church monthly periodical, and provide extensive photo coverage of church events and the people involved.

I like that effect, punchkin! It's hard to tell for sure if it's a real shot from far away, or a close-up of a miniature layout of the park.

If you don't mind me asking, what lens did you use to get such a narrow zone of focus on the park sign from so far away? (I don't have Photoshop and I haven't figured out how to get Gimp to show me the EXIF info yet... )

Thanks! That shot was with the EF 50mm f/1.4, and it was shot from the top of a Ferris wheel. However it was at f/8 if I recall correctly-- the DOF was large. The effect was applied afterward in Photoshop. It involves selective blurring as well as curve and color manipulation.

If you have extra cash to blow on lenses, you can do similar things with a tilt-shift lens, or of course through the use of a view camera.

You should be able to download an EXIF viewer (google it) for easy viewing of EXIF data in a browser. Microsoft also has at least a Windows XP PowerToy for doing it in the file system, and there are other utilities out there.

The Microsoft Photo Info power tool is pretty cool. I did some Google searches for EXIF viewers but didn't like any of the ones that I found. I'd rather have the info directly in GIMP but the MS tool will work just fine. Thanks.

That looks cool....very similar to Exifer. Does anyone know if I can get it without having to download the WGA bs?

how did you get into HDR? i'd love to start doing it i've seen some VERY cool things done with it. Any recommendations on a site to learn the techniques?

I just got a D300 (upgraded my D50), i'll shoot anything but mostly I shoot candid shots with friends/scouts (assistant scoutmaster) and sports (auto racing) With a little bit of landscape thrown in. this year I hope to build a lightbox, and maybe purchase a macro lens.

i do all my photography for fun and ill shoot just about anything..... well except flowers and gay stuff like that, oh yeah and insects.

i generally dont do portraits, i dont seem to be very good at them and to be honest theyre only really interesting for those getting the photo.... i know im not gonna go back a look through pictures of people.

my main interests really lie in a lot of things urban landscapes and architecture, normal landscapes, industrial landscapes, long exposures, HDRs, Motorsports, cars etc... , sports (mainly swimming) and breakdancing.

i love engineering and i love breakdancing, so those and the cultures around them are my main influence.... i also will just take photos of stuff i find to be interesting, like, for instance.... our kitchen after a month without cleaning anything.
