Chrome (whatever the latest version happens to be) is great. Bookmarks/extensions/preferences sync is by far the best thing about it; setting up a new instance of the browser exactly the way I want it is so easy. Used to use Firefox but felt like it was getting slower over time.

IE8 and IE9 64b. I see no reason to use any other browsers on my PCs.

IE9 here. Opera Mobile is win on my phone though.

IE9 primary (IE8 on XP systems), Opera backup. Never got all the love for Firefox.

Firefox was great back in the day when it wasn't that well known since it ran smoother, with less resource hogging, and had less security issues than IE did. Now, it's just the same, really.

I switched over to chrome recently. Firefox wants to update way too often and it was being a resource hog.

Chrome does this occasionally too but doesn't seem as bad as firefox was.

lol, really? Chrome updates just as much if not moreso than FireFox, they just never made any extra fuss about it (which is the key point, extra fuss, because its how they've always done things) so when Mozilla changed their version numbering scheme to try and match Google's competition suddenly they were the ones somehow looking ridiculous when Google has been doing the same thing since day 1, they just don't get ridiculed for it because, again, its how they've always done things.

Switched from FF to Chrome a month or so ago. If they ever make Xmarks and LastPass extensions for Opera I'll go back to it in a heartbeat.

Lastpass is available for Opera.

I wonder why Opera isn't more popular than it is. It's easily as good as any of the other big players, and packs a lot of features into a relatively small amount of space. It doesn't have to be #1, but I'd expect better than the ~4% it carries.

Opera's biggest problem is its low marketshare. Almost all browsers have little tweaks and hacks you need to throw in on occasion to get it to work within a certain browser and people just don't put these in for Opera. That's why you get site giving either bad code to Opera or not rendering properly. I can't tell you how many times I log onto a site and it says: You're using an outdated browser please upgrade to Firefox 4+ Chrome 15+ etc etc. At times it gets to be a pain in the ass, and for an average user who doesn't really love the browser, who wouldn't change?

On top of that they don't advertise their features. It has adblock, greasemoney, stylish, mouse gestures, no script all built in. Among many other features. If someone who is a diehard Firefox fan searches their extension lists and doesn't see that stuff are they going to take the time to find if the browser does have these features? Most people would not.

Firefox xxx where xxx is a number that increases once or twice a week.

At work it's a mix of firefox/IE because there's lot of crapply coded apps that only work in it. I run them in IEtab though. I just have having a window open for every single page.

it wasn't always free, which hurt its adoption rate back in the day. there was a free add supported version, the ad was simply a "upgrade to the paid version" as in the top bar that never changed, it really was not annoying

I used to be a devoted Opera user, but I've recently switched to SRWare Iron, a tweaked version(reports nothing back to Google) of Chromium(open source Chrome). All the latest versions of Opera have an issue where it would cause my GPU clocks and voltage to jump up and down at random and would cause me to suffer "Driver stopped responding and had the be restarted" errors.

I use Chrome for the security reasons in this link

The important thing to note is that Chrome wasn't necessarily the most difficult to hack... it remained unhacked - nobody tried. "Google's Chrome browser was also up for grabs, but no one stepped forward to try hacking it." All the other browsers had known security holes and people went into the contest knowing exactly what they were going to do to exploit them and gain control of a machine.

Switched from FF to Chrome completely since Chrome has the 3 add-ons I use for FF, AdBlock, FlashBlock, NoScript.
