Throughout my life I always dreamed of being an [other]. Though my parents strongly suggested that I go into other fields, I maintained my commitment to being an [other] throughout my grade school years. The greatest challenge that stood in the way of my [other]ness occurred in high school, when my guidance councilor informed me that my proficiencies lay elsewhere. Rather than let him deter me from the [other] career path, I decided to follow my dream of being an [other] and signed up for the appropriate college courses. My greatest moment of pride was when I received my bachelor's in [other] and went on study for my [other] Masters.

I am now working in the [other] field and am considered one of the top [other] professionals alive. The money isn't great, but the rewards of [other] go beyond mere money. [other] gives me a deep sense of satisfaction with where I am in life, and I hope to instill the same reverence of [other] in my children, if I ever have any.

Very nice, now I want to know what that [other] of yours is

Other: Manufacturing

I work for a small company, so my duties are divided between QA, Engineering, and IT

To all those in IT, cheers! I'm a network administrator myself working my way up.
To all those in Engineering, cheers! You are some of the smartest if you put through engineering (I dropped out of it since it was really hard)
To the Finance folks, I schooled in Finance and Accounting before I switched to IT, Accounting is hard! - but kudos to you if you got your game right!
To the Doctors (I doubt if we have any real doctors in here): You rock!
To the rest: Kudos

IT (specifically, storage administration for a hosting company which is exactly as boring as it sounds)

UNIX/SAN Engineer. I design, tweak and otherwise molest *NIX operating systems to push the maximum performance out of them as possible on ridiculously beefy hardware. I also design/maintain SAN fabrics.

I'm in residential sales for a large cable/internet provider. I work in a call center. I have half a cube and wear a headset.

Nothing special.

Also a technical writer. Primarily I work in engineering disciplines though I've also done IT work, and even work that could be classified as "entertainment." So I'm voting "Other."

Cool. I document software, so I don't have any involvement with hardware or engineering. As for IT work, I don't do that. I can troubleshoot better than most peoples' moms, but I probably pale in comparison to most of this forum .

Can you give any more details as to what you mean by "entertainment"?
