Computer Science as well. The Master's would technically be in Software Engineering (I'm lookin at a concentration in big data/data mining), but same difference.
Yeah I haven't decided on it yet. I really like learning and would love to go back to school actually. My work would also help pay for it, although not very much but it's better than nothing. As a side benefit it'll get me out and socializing a bit, which is something I don't really do now. I just don't think I'll look back on it and think "Damn, I really wish I hadn't gone back to school for a Master's and just continued to sit on my ass instead!"
yeah can't blame you for doing it if it's free. but imo it won't get you much further and i personally think spending that extra time doing side projects would go further, like making mobile apps or websites or something of that nature. at least i know it has for me, and many of my coworkers who are tech leads and senior engineers don't have masters.
i'm the opposite of you though - i hate school and hardly made it through lol. but i like to do a lot of learning on the side. all of my side work has taught me to basically be able to pick up and use any language very quickly, and my side mobile work has led me to a major side project i'm working on where i own equity in the company and we are hoping (obviously) that this software will be huge when we are done.
not sure of your location or how long you've been in the industry, but if you are 10 years in the industry (estimate based off of 32 year old and 22 year old when graduating) and aren't above 100k yet pay wise, sounds like doing something else like getting a masters will help with that.
