This is 100% true.
Most, yup. My boss is not technical, though, and he wants me to get certs so I have something on paper. Nevermind what I actually *do* all day...
This is 100% true.
Nah, just old, crabby, and burned out on IT.
And the truth is that most companies don't care. The certs are really only important if you're a consultant or working for a provider, but that's about it.
I envy that PM cert indy is going for .. forget which one it is. I don't do much real PM, so I can't apply, but it's pretty cool.
Well, IF I go for it. Kranky and others gave me some pretty good encouragement.
P.S. Screw you CCNP certified bastards.
Not jealous of any of them. Wanted the VCDX for a long time but my career has skyrocketed so much without it and there's still room to grow. I don't think I want to invest the ~200 hours of time needed to build a design, create all the documentation for it, then defend it. If I knew a 50% pay raise was coming my way for doing it, then I'd reconsider but I doubt there would be.
I've got tons of certifications already and keeping them up to date is a bitch.
I'm not "jealous" of certs, but I think CCIEs are still well-respected.
VCDX, definitely.
None.
This. You'd have to kill me before you could get me to get any kind of IT cert...
Aren't you retired?
Why yes, yes I am...but if I wasn't retired, I still wouldn't want to be an IT monkey.
I MUCH prefer working outside.
absolutely none. not jealous of IT people at all in general.
You should be. We rule the world.
yea and you guys are all my bitch at work and get my workstations set up so i can go make more money than you all.
THANKS!
