Yes, poor bastards in general. But there are many criminal elements too amongst the illegal immigrants. Texas and Arizona, from the ranches to the densely populated cities, know it all too well. It is an issue, not a small one at that.

There are always two sides to a story. Really, this business of illegal immigration needs to stop, or be kept to a minimum. But sadly, both the corrupt parties benefit from it. People, as always, are helpless.

Well, Congress can appropriate whatever funds they desire for the purpose. The Executive branch gets to work with those funds. Congress has other options, as well, like instituting ID requirements & verification checks to deny employment of illegals by businesses of any size at all, their subcontractors & their franchises as well.

You're absolutely right, congress can do many things, but there are two problems. Both parties are OK with illegal immigration (though for very different reasons), and anyone who dares bring up anything that might stem the tide of illegals flowing over the border will immediately get thrown under the bus as racist, xenophobic, bigoted or some other crap. So basically, nothing will get resolved from a legislative perspective, and the executive branch openly encourages more illegal immigrants. Is it any wonder that people want to do something to protect their country, even if some of those efforts are misguided?

Immigration is *not* a States Rights issue. It's constitutionally in the realm of the federal govt exclusively.

How many times has this BS already been debunked? The number of deportations is only higher because they decided to change what is included in the number, the number of actual deportations (based on the previously used metric to compile the numbers) is way down.

Interesting it seems like even according to that graph the number of deportations sky rocketed under Bush and then plateaued under Obama.

Seems like it is really Bush administration policy changes that are responsible for the increased deportations now doesnt it?

States must operate within the bounds of the Constitution. It grants them no authority & no legitimacy to enforce immigration law. Period.

Nothing like a bit of scurrilous denigration to set the tone. It's not like this problem sprung up because Obama. Far from it. Obama just plays the hand he's been dealt the best way he thinks he can. Congress simply will not provide the wherewithall to stem illegal immigration, leaving him with few constructive options.
