What items do you like at Trader Joe's?

I've never been to Trader Joe's, but since I have some free time this week, I thought I would check it out. What should I get there?

Their bagels are good IMO. Alot of their frozen vegetable type stuff is good. Their frozen pizzas are... well I like them. They are plain and more wholesome shall we say.

We get all our groceries there, so everything! Special mention goes to their Muscat Orange Champagne Vinegar which I use in an orange reduction sauce for chicken and a glaze for salmon (scrumptious), and yes the olive oil, the pecan pie...

The only time I go to organic snoody grocery stores (World Market, Trader Joes, etc...) is when I want something different.

Basically, I go there when I want fine cheese/salami - and a nice beer that I haven't had yet to go with it.

Anything else, you're an idiot that likes paying $300 instead of $100. Want proof? Take a look around you the next time you're there. Emo's and hippies with tattoo's, nose rings, etc... all around you. At least with World Market, can't speak fully on Trader Joe's behalf.

Trader Joe's is like maybe three dolla sign.

Not cheap, not expensive, around the middle. The thing is lots of store brand stuff. Its a like it or hate it kind of thing.

Aldi's is like one dolla sign and Target/Walmart are like two. Whole Foods is 4 and Wegmans is 3.5.

I guess I would consider like small specialty stores 5.

I like how your whole post was inflammatory BS, but by your own words, have nothing to do with the the topic of this thread. It's really amazing anyone posts anything in the OT section of these forums anymore. I know I hate myself after reading even one thread here that "might" pique my interest.

Usually I can just close the tab and remember that Anandtech is joke wasteland where douchebags congregate. Every once in a while, I get drunk enough to actually post. Doesn't lead to a quality post, but I have read one in OT for a long time, so just adding to the pile.

I like Trader Joes mixed nut selection, the ginger snaps, carrot juice, and cocoa powder.

Huh? We get some expensive things there like nuts (but they're expensive everywhere), and we spend about $600/mo. there for two people, including everything we eat, TP, paper towels, shampoo, soap, etc.

Nope.

TJ's has its share of hipster douchebags and more organic options than a wally-world, along with the accompanying flower-children. But the prices are actually pretty in-line with other grocery stores on most of their stuff.

I'm about 70 miles west of you where we just recently got a trader joe's. It's not bad but I think if you're accustomed to Wegmans you wouldn't switch. TJs has enough novelty items to keep you going back on occasion just for them. The ginger snaps everyone raves about, some odd frozen stuff, the ice cream, and the alcohol is worth sampling.
I guess the best way I can describe it is if you took the limited selection of an Aldi and swapped the mainstream items for oddball/novelty items...with better packaging and marketability.

The Trader Joe's down here is popular, have never been to it I guess.

Sounds a bit like Whole Foods.

I like Publix still

One of my Aunt's years ago in the Midwest was a specialty buyer for a large supermarket chain where they had a large section in store devoted just to that, sounds pretty similar.

She would always show up at family events with a lot of unusual things just from trial things received.

I wish there was a TJs closer to me. There's one not terribly far, but it's in a bad traffic area. I go to BigLots and Aldi for discount shopping, and Wegmans for premium. I also go to a local natural foods store for obscure, or local items.
