The only good console was the original Nintendo, simple and to the point. Every controller after that was just terrible. They tried to get all fancy and just made them worse.

I got a computer after that, and never looked back. Ease of use, upgradable, just better games.

Image quality, controls, and steam sales. Plus I like sitting at a desk where nobody is going to walk in front of the screen while I'm trying to play.

Keyboard and mouse, more control over the game in general with settings, multiplayer communities will last for a very long time for good games, and finally one of, if not the biggest reason, mods. I've gotten so much more play out of games due to mods, everything from just replaying the game with small ones to total conversion. Mods can fix things you hated about a part of a game or completely fix the game sometimes.

Better controls, better graphics, and it does everything else I want from a computer. It's even fun to make upgrades. Until someone figures out how to plug my brain into the matrix for gaming I just don't see any alternative worth considering.

game mods and the fact that online gaming on consoles seems limited to FPS'ers and sports games.

Wait, huh? Do you think it would be easier to play Call of Duty on the original Nintendo controller than a modern controller?

Almost every aspect of the actual gaming experience is superior on the PC IMO, which is why I keep playing PC games.

The only advantages the console (360, specifically) has:
- I have more real life friends that play on the 360
- High level of quality control. MS really doesn't let devs release completely broken crap on the 360 very often. I'm sure it's happened, but I haven't had any issues with any 360 games.
- Game resale.

I'm play primarily multiplayer FPS games, which I HATE on consoles. Even if you master it, which I'm too stubborn to even attempt, you're still worse than the worst players on any given PC FPS shooter. The keyboard and mouse are far superior.

I also hate a lot of things that FPS consoles have brought into the FPS genre, some leaking into PC FPS games. Auto-aim, 1 hit kill knifing, lack of dedicated servers, etc...

Beyond that, being able to multitask, and have one center for gaming, browsing the web easily, listening to music (while gaming)... All independently or at the same time, is just priceless.

Besides what has been noted above, for me it's the people I play the games with. A great bunch of guys and gals who have become an extension of my family. I've shared a lot in my life with them, and they have in turn shared alot of their lives with me. If they were to say that they're no longer gaming on the PC I probably would stop gaming.

I said it was simple and to the point, i didn't say it was made for every game in the world.

You made the point of why consoles suck. controllers for certain games are terrible for others.

Worst controller was N64. It was horrid.

Yeah, I didn't mention that, probably because it's so much a given to me, that I didn't even think of it. Great point.

Another aspect of that is programs like Ventrilo etc. Voice chat outside of games enables you to bullshit with others, hop to and from games, send each other links... etc. Just a way more rounded "hang out" experience than sitting on your couch getting yelled at by 13 year olds.

Two things.

One, mouse and keyboard is far more comfortable to me then gamepads.

Two, playing games on my PC is infinitely more comfortable and convenient. Big TVs and couches stop being a plus if you have a wife who also wants use of said TV and couch.

More games that I actually want to play. I still haven't bought a Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 because there just aren't enough games that I'm interested that are truly exclusive to either platform, ie. games I can't pick up for the PC.

1. I hate controllers.

2. Multiplayer on consoles is god awful.

3. Often I game and watch TV at the same time. So I'll be playing on my PC and have the game on so I can sort of do both.

4. Cheaper games. I generally buy my games on sale and I can usually find PC games cheaper than console games.

Those are the main ones.

Like everyone else, there are so many reasons why I continue to game on a PC. I do own all the consoles and play the exclusives if they are worthwhile, but with a PC there are just so many selections available. Cost is about the only factor where a console could potentially win, but even you have to settle for lower end graphics and subpar control.

i can game on pc and work as well on pc. didn't see a need for console just for gaming. although I was tempted to several times.

I also like the customization factor alot. If all computers were the same and I didnt get to choose my parts and oc the shit out of them, I probably wont have as much interest.

and also i'm an old fart. Slowly I get more lazy to try new things.

Most online gaming is still with Starcraft 1 for me anyway. so go figure. (although I did get SC2, I didnt install it yet xD)

Better games. I can't play DoW2 on consoles. I can't play SC2 on consoles. BC2 on PC is much, much better than on consoles.

Considering I can actually play my games at a full 1920x1080 and have a monitor that can refresh up to 120Hz, twice as fast as comparable flat panel TVs. I also have another monitor that allows me to play at 2560x1440.

And then of course there's all the extra AA I can crank up. Or if I really wanted I could always run the game at 1024x768. Consoles are just too cookie cutter for me.

PC Community, Hardware and Software superiority, custom mods, individual variables that challenge and have to be overcome to better the individual PC's performance, the shopping and build. Mouse and keyboard IMO offer better control, response, customization, and possibilites. My individuality expressed in one custom system, through performance and looks, built by me. It feel's great when you push the on button on your custom rig for the first time and boots up!
