How do you hit the insert key by accident when pushing backspace? The insert key is a little far out there with a space between it and backspace, you must be reaching awfully far to do that.

Insert is used in some games for map rotation control and such, not many but some, so I want it

I have a Labtec media keyboard. $17-ish from amazon. It feels a little cheaper but it isn't bad for the price at all, and has all the hotkeys I wanted on it (internet keys, media keys, plus a couple others). Works with games too (no limitations on key combinations that can be pressed at once that I've found). And, the best part is it has the normal layout for the arrow keys and has the insert key! I'm so tired of finding keyboards without the insert key, whose idea was it to get rid of it?

Two of my friends physically remove the insert key from their keyboards. Personally I hate the thing.

I use Shift+Insert to paste into SecureCRT. Gotta have it.

I already have an nice mouse (mx1000), so combo's aren't necessary. Some of the recommendations are very high priced. I'm going for 30 dollars, preferably less. I'm really leaning on the logitech media elite right now, does anyone have more info on it or other keyboards in my price range?

Logitech media elite! I'm typing on it right now. Fantasic keyboard w/ great media keys.

Whoa, don't know how this thread got bumped .

I basically said what the heck and bought the Logitech Media Elite. A few of the keyboards I liked had the curvy or ergonomic keys, which I didn't want. The logitech looked like a good multimedia standard format keyboard.

I like the keyboard, it's much quieter than the ancient Dell keyboard I replaced. The media keys work great, and setpoint controls both my keyboard and my MX1000. One thing that I noticed is that the keys seem easier to depress, and the depression is shallower. Doesn't really bother me though. The bigger issue is the short cable, I hope it can reach my desk when I put my computer where it normally rests.

I'm partial to logitech keyboards and mice. I'm using the cordless comfort duo ergonomic keyboard and love it. Works great for gaming as well.

I like keyboards that I can see with a light off (I prefer to play games this way). I use a saitek eclipse.

Microsoft Comfort Curve: It's black (matches desk), curved to ease some pains but not so much you can't reach keys, low-profile keys that are quiet and easy to press. All for just ~$20.

i only consider paying a little more to be worth it if its an ergonomic keyboard. the normal ones are mostly about gussy upping a regular 12 dollar keyboard

$3 Samsung PS/2 Standard Keyboard. Still works perfectly after two years. Even the WASD writing hasn't faded. No stuck keys or anything which is strange because there has got to be a few ounces of cigarette ash clogging the keys.

And it even has a 'Turbo' button.

I've got several IBM Model Ms (original PS/2s), a Unicomp Customizer 104 black USB (remake of IBM Model M), a Saitek Eclipse II, and 2 Logitech G15s on the various computers around my house. I really like IBM Model Ms, and I can type faster on them than just about anything else, but I also love my Logitech G15s. The Saitek Eclipse II is alright, but it's not spectacular. It just doesn't have the right feel, feels cheap, imo. Of course, I'm used to nigh indestructible, noisy, and fun-loving behemoth keyboards from the 80s too

Funny thing, I only paid $1 a pop for 2 of the IBM Model Ms, and the Unicomp Customizer is only $70 and worth every penny (best keyboard I've ever had because it's black, instead of beige, and USB, plus it's basically a Model M).
