Heh, yeah, I have a 2405 and it's the same deal. Still working perfectly though, so I do not see a reason to upgrade.

Using DVI. 8 month old graphics card has a couple of HDMI outputs though. Monitor should have some HDMI inputs, it's 2 years old and 27". Just too lazy to move it and look behind for the inputs.

Depends what the monitor/video card has. Right now it's all DVI. I have two machines, one for games (windows) and my main Linux one. Got 4 DVI cables running from the basement where the machines are, to my desk, triple monitor setup, the centre one being on a KVM.

Though I also have two HDMI cables coming up from two raspberry PIs, I was experimenting with a Synergy based multi monitor setup so I can gain more control over where windows/dialogs open, but it proved to be too unstable. still trying to figure out a proper setup. I just hate the traditional multi monitor style since stuff likes to open all over the place and it's irritating. I opened Gimp for the first time after a clean install and it defaulted to the multi dialog mode and it exploded across all 3 monitors launching a billion dialogs all over the place. Lot of apps have this problem. Ridiculous that OS/Window managers can't manage multi monitor better when it comes to where stuff opens.

It's black and has this block thingy on both ends. Not sure how many pixels can get through there at a time but it seems to be enough to keep the screen full of pixels. I got to thinking about this and realized that the monitor doesn't have a drain for spent pixels so I guess the cable must have a pixel return tube as well. The computer must recycle them.

VGA to 37" tv that i've been using for my monitor for 6 ish years. Why vga? because that's what my KVM offers and it works just fine. I've seen no difference in hdmi vs vga with that tv. I do wish dp was offered on tvs.
