I'll be just under 70 yo -my mind should be spry enough to appreciate the technology around us.

  • Self-driving freight trucks are have well penetrated the industry. You see them every where on the road. As for us commoners, the roads are an awkward mix of self-driving cars and human driving.
  • We have some semblance of integrated 'smartphones' into our body. It's quite clumsy and rudimentary to carry around smartphones and stare at them prior years.
  • We see amazing applications of VR - hospitals, therapy, remote job executions, etc.
  • IoTs have permeated everywhere in our daily lives. AI and ML combined probably dictate our lives as personal assistants.
  • First one-way manned mission to Mars launches.
  • Further improvements in drones and battery technology allow them to be used everywhere. Privacy is truly dead.

Would love your take.

* Everyone born after 2035 will have a mandatory GPS tracker put in place. World wide range within 5 feet accuracy. Remove/Hack them and a bomb in the brain goes off.
* Self flying vehicles on demand - short range < 20 miles. No private ownership, it's a free service by the government
* Super high-speed tube trains across the USA. NY to LA in 2 hours. Freight and passengers.
* Food from recyclable garbage. Indistinguishable from natural sources.
* Medical miracles. Cloning yourself with memories intact (virtual immortality for the rich), body parts replacement, almost all types of cancer cured. Normal life span/dying age is now 250 years old.
* Some mysteries solved - Jimmy Hoffa, Loch Ness Monster/Bigfoot, Amelia Earhart.
* Basic life form found in Europa.
* International Moon Base and mining of asteroids near Mars.
* Earths first Trillionaire.
* Korea united, border destroyed/removed.

Self flying vehicles on demand just in 30 years? I highly doubt it. Flying cars just come with way too much risk and power consumption.

Actually most of things here are very very aggressive for 30 years. Maybe 50-100.

Hey Zeze,

No, long gone from Raytheon. I left in 2012 to go to another competitor, L-3. Then I switched to Liberty Mutual in Boston managing their business strategy. Now I have switched out of the Fortune 500's at a smaller (relatively) company in Boston running their direct-to-consumer and operations strategy.

What about you?

IT consulting at a nice cushy company that pays decent. How time flies; we were all kids back then.

Lived in NYC, then Jersey City, now in dirty jersey with beautiful kids. I hope you didn't sell that home in NH and using it as a income property.

Same here; I'll be 68. I'm not gonna comment cause I think it's so hard to tell the future, especially nowadays as things change so fast, but actually your list seems to be pretty solid.

Not IT consultant, but on the business side. I was in finance when I was with Raytheon/L-3.

I still have the NH house, but live in MA. Not renting it yet, but a home away from home! And yes, we were just kids... now I'm approaching 40!

Anybody who isn't already a member of the %1 will be poor and there will be no middle class.

An alternator sized piece of steak will finally be considered "bulk beef".

ATOT forums will consist solely of Russian bots talking to each other.

  • Sea levels have risen far enough that southern florida is a lost cause.
  • Many metro areas previously on the coast have created massive dike systems and we have "island cities" now.
  • Consumption of real meat is practically unheard of. Everything is simulated out of plant or yeast. Only the extremely rich can afford real meat.
  • Widespread crop failures in previously bread baskets. Developed nations can't afford to export food.
  • China and Russia go to war over control of Siberia.
  • We've move onto clean and local energy mostly. Local solar is built into every new house these days and most have long been retrofitted with roof panels and battery systems. We've finally accepted that nuclear makes sense and is largely replacing coal as they are decommissioned.
  • Driveless cars are a thing and by now the idea of driving your own car is outlawed in most metro areas. You still see it in rural areas.
  • Local retail stores have almost completely gone away for commodity purchases. Those are delivered my drone from automated warehouses the same day. You probably don't own a car anyways so having everything just show up at your house is more convenient.
  • Stores that still exist have largely been replace with AI/facial recognition systems like amazon's trial store. Just walk in, pick what you want and leave.

Things are probably going to suck. Climate change effects will be at full swing, weather is going to be miserable and so sporadic making most places nearly crappy to live in, which means all the nicer quieter places like my region will now be overly populated. Violence, government corruption, and just overall nasty people will pretty much prevail. The economy will be in the shitter, most people will be poor. There will be a few online based megacorps that control everything, and no competition and no local businesses. Most people won't have jobs, there will be hardly no jobs, other than oddball niche ones down south. It will mostly just be exec type positions, the actual work will be automated. Costs of living will also be retarded high that most people won't be able to afford to have electricity etc.

Hopefully by then I'll be living off grid on like 40 acres of remote forest land to get away from all the BS, if the concept of land ownership even still exists by then. Not going to be easy either way though especially if I still want to buy things. Everything will just be retarded expensive, like internet will probably be like $500/mo so it will be too expensive for most people to afford and you'll need to go to the library which will probably be full of druggies and stuff. Overall stuff is just going to be super grim and miserable and hostile.

I'd like to think I'm wrong but that's just how I see things heading.

I don't see a potential for a bomb lol. And I'm not sure about "mandatory gps" so much as "optional" implants that become either so convenient or so necessary to keep pace in the job market that most would choose it. Already I hear about people today getting a small implant in their finger to act as a password scan for their work computer that I suspect it is only a matter of time.

Probably this sadly.
I am 67 now so , who cares !
Baby boomers in a nut shell. I'm beginning to think that Millenials will become the first generation to bash the generations that proceeded it rather than those ahead of it as has been customary.
