Theoretical physicist at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator. Currently collaborating with some really smart fellas at MIT looking for a a particle called A' (A prime).
United States Marine Corps, Combat Engineer.
btw, it's the 238th birthday of the Corps today.
I am an outside tech for AT&T. Basically a journeyman electrician. Anything from simple repair of phone lines, to repair of distribution cables, to underground hi-cap/T1 circuits and splices. I sweat and freeze my ass off, get dirty, and sorta love my job.
We underwent some organizational changes, so I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing next year, other than continuing to bathe in a metric fuck ton of overtime.
I manage the maintenance and flight operations for a RPA (UAVs is common term) squadron for the Air Force.
lol,you guys don't get dirty, I work out there with you repair guys all the time. We contract for AT&T as well, we setup the UVerse cabinets, run all the fibers...etc , you all wear latex gloves and rubber slipons and you all set up tents if it rains and you have little propane tanks to keep warm. We usually dig up the splice pits and wait on you guys to fix it, I have yet to see anyone actually splice as fast as it should, they love the OT I guess...all that of course is AFTER you guys stop for breakfast at BK. ^_^
No you guys stay far cleaner and warmer than we get to but we're a small company and don't have to follow the same kinds of safety and guidlines other than cones, signs and hardhats.
Of course your going through organizational changes, I have been doing work for AT&T/SBC/Indiana Bell..etc for 15 years and since SBC purchased AT&T, that's all they do is change...they even change the specs for ground rings....how the fuck can they not get a ground ring correct the first dozen times? All the ATT guys I know act like they hate their job now due to higher ups and changes but they still got it sweet.

That's awesome. My knowledge of your field is basically what I've learned watching The Universe or other shows like it. Are there many of you guys? What do you think about the famous physicists like Tyson or Alex Filipinko (sp?)? Are they the smartest physicists or just the ones that communicate it best?
Director of Operations/Branch Manager for a fairly large mortgage company. When I started here (at AT) I was but a wee Loan Processor/Underwriter.
Now I am a corporate yuppy who drives a Range Rover listening to the Eagles @ 29 years old.
I hire, fire, put out fires, create reports, implement systems, discipline, positively reinforce, and occasionally help guide ATOTers through the perils of residential mortgages if they have questions.
Water Resources (Civil) Engineer (PE). I design water and wastewater utilities, lift/pump stations, and treatment plant components. I've been preparing a lot of feasibility studies and capacity/performance reports lately.
