Purchased some chicken breasts on sale of $0.97/lb. and I will try to make chicken breasts with salsa sauce in a slow cooker tomorrow.

it's not that hard. Minute rice can be made pretty easily.

If you are more adventurous there is always parboiled rice.

There are other foods to live from. You can eat potatoes for example.

Or, you maybe can overcome this issue with rice ...
You can probably make rice if you figure out what problem(s) you are dealing with.
does it burn? -- lower the heat level as soon as it starts to boil
stick to pan? -- make sure theres some butter or oil in the pan (possibly might be due to broken down cookware)
does it come out undone/incomplete? -- make sure its boiling before you lower the temp, make sure its cooking long enough

Rice can sometimes be tricky, but, once you figure out your issues, you can overcome.
Also, different rices can behave differently, some absorb more water than others.

In other words, even "rice" isnt necessarily easy to cook. Especially if you are not experienced in the kitchen.

Spicy beef knife cut noodles for breakfast. Awesome cold winter morning hungover food. Fresh knife cut noodles (used pre-made store knife cut noodles for convenience and laziness) added to homemade beef bone broth, kimchi, leftover ribeye steak trims. I love soups and noodles so I have freezer full of homemade bone broth and anchovy broth in ziplock bags ready to use. It's so worth it to make your own broth from scratch rather than use store bought broth.

I am not a huge fan of it but put some brown sugar and cinnamon on it is pretty tasty.

Plus oatmeal can be used for making cookies.

Sauteed eggplant, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and garlic with ground pork, thai chili garlic sauce, fish sauce, rice wine vinegar and ginger over a bowl of rice. That's like the most vegetables I've cooked at home in one shot in weeks.
