Not a meal but picked up an eye round and turned it into cracked pepper jerky.

supposed to go out for dinner but GF got strep, so I made homemade chicken soup to walk over to her crib and drop off. Pretty much all organic.

Organic chicken drumsticks (thanks Costco) cooked in organic chicken broth (thanks Costco), chopped up a mirepoix and some garlic, sauteed that and then grated in some fresh turmeric and ginger. All the veggies were organic. Added in a couple bay leaves, some organic dried thyme and rosemary (will get fresh next time) and then also added in some Pearl Couscous. I had reserved the chicken drumsticks when they were cooked, then shredded them and put them back in. The couscous helped thicken up the soup but I wanted it a little thicker so used a little corn starch slurry.

Soup is in a big container to walk over to her house, then come home and dig into a giant bowl while the dog gets some chicken bits and skin with his food. Love using the Nakiri for veggies that aren't too huge.

Food for the pup. Start off with 8lb of Costco ground beef in the 6 quart Dutch Oven. Then we dice up potatoes and slice carrots and throw those in to boil in a 12 qt stock pot. Then we roughly chop some edamame and some baby spinach, also cook a couple cups of rice and throw in some frozen green peas into the boiling water as well. The final product, an almost full 12 qt stock pot. Will portion into ziplock freezer baggies, freeze most of them, and then serve with ancient grains kibble. Also with some all-natural probiotic powder and some other supplements including fish oil.

I love my dog. I only wish I started doing this for him a few years ago.

thats a funny lookin dog.
This guy?

He is not the most photogenic. But I have gotten so many comments with him. I have lost count of the dudes that just say to me as they walk by 'beautiful dog man'. The funniest was when I was walking him with this girl and had just told her about the amount of guys that say that, when 30 seconds later a guy walking by goes 'that's a beautiful dog man, you are blessed'. The blessing part was new. Have even had cars stop a few times to say the same and then ask what kind of dog he is.

And then the rest of the folks that see me with him in stores, or when I leave him outside a store and they say something, or at dog runs. Usually it's a mix of handsome and beautiful.

Fucker has the looks in this relationship.

Been making mushroom soup, 100% my own ideas/concoction. Started when I spotted shrooms growing at periphery of my compost pile. I used to hunt mushrooms in the woods after rains and had a good book to identify them. I had some confidence that the shrooms in my yard were Lepiota Rachodes (Shaggy Parasol), but wanted confirmation, so went to my book: Mushrooms Demystified by David Agora.

Assured that I had Shaggy Parasols ("one of the best" eating mushrooms), I began eating them. They came in frequent waves in the fall, but colder weather stopped them, so I've been buying Baby Bellas at Costco the last few months.

My own cream of mushroom soup:

6oz mushrooms, chopped
32oz nonfat milk
~1 T olive oil
~1/4 cup whole wheat flour
Old Bay Seasoning
~ 1.5 T caramelized onions
2 t thyme
2t rosemary

Simmer a few minutes.

Looks like a Pitt-mix with big floppy Great Dane ears!

Really cute!

No part of the flounder wasted. Made spicy fish soup with the leftover flounder spine bones and head.

You can see the fish head, eyes, and mouth.

Last Saturday I made another cottage roll dinner. Turned great, as usual.

And on Friday I will be making a big pot of split pea soup with some of the left over cottage roll. Yummy!

today's breakfast: eggs, bacon, Trader Joe's almond croissant, coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice. TJ's croissants are good considering it's just frozen store brand.

sugar twist donuts. Amazing. Wife and daughter made these. Wife is a great baker and my daughter is learning from her.

cornbread

hotteok (hot pancake filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped peanuts). Daughter made this.

tonkatsu (breaded fried pork cutlet) and rice

spaghetti with clams

soy marinaded grilled salmon with rice

seafood tofu stew

Jjapaguri with leftover grilled ribeye steak. Jjapaguri is made by combining two of the popular Korean instant noodles, Chapagetti and Neoguri. This dish was featured in the movie Parasite. I highly recommend making and trying it if you never had it.

lemongrass grilled chicken tender and eggs with rice. Notice the color of the rice is blue. If you add butterfly pea flower, it will give your cooked rice a nice blue color.

braised beef short ribs and radish

beef stew

kimchi pancake with oysters, squid, and shrimp

spicy blue crab miso stew

mussel spaghetti

grilled bone-in pork roast

pork fried rice made with leftover grilled pork roast
roast

spicy seafood noodles made with homemade beef bone broth. I make my own beef bone broth and anchovy fish stock in huge batches from scratch and freeze it so I always have some in the freezer ready to use.

beef pho made with the same homemade beef bone broth
