TBH those home cooked meals (I assume?) are probably cheaper than buying takeout.

Been trying to cut back on take out myself for cost and health reasons but it's so hard since I like my take out foods lol. Especially poutine.

In your case you should get into cooking once a week and freeze in smaller containers. Otherwise it is just too much work.

Yeah sometimes I do that, then I fall off the wagon lol.

Though one thing I do eat regularly is pasta and I tend to make a sauce big enough to fill over 12 mason jars so it lasts me quite a while.

I need to get into making my own soup too, probably healthier than the canned stuff.

homemade soup and stew is levels ahead of canned.

Make a big pot of stew and freeze it in meal size containers for later use.

Make a big pot of chili and freeze it for later use.

As usual this thread has made me hungry!

I have a couple pounds of Navy Beans soaking, a bunch of chopped carrots, celery and onions plus I'm about to fry up a whole package of bacon and toss the lot in the slow-cooker. (also some garlic & Worcestershire)

You could always use an Instant Pot

I've done so with my IP in the past when in a hurry .... I slightly prefer the texture of the beans I get from the vintage crock-pot when I have the time for it though. (I suspect the overnight cold-water soak in the fridge is the explanation for this more then the cooking-method)

Btw my apartment smells amazing this morning! (can't wait for lunch!)

I am trying something new:

herb roasted pork tenderloin and for a side dish:

A potato, pork sausage, onion, jalapeno and cheese casserole.

Wish me luck.

One thing I've found instant pot cooks very well are beans. It really does great job with pretty much any types of beans. And oatmeal.

good luck! I've beef brisket and pork butt sitting in the freeze I would like to smoke outside but it's supposed to rain all weekend. I was waiting til my daughter was home for the weekend to cook but the weather might ruin that plan.

Mugwort pancake.

I bet most people don't know or never even seen mugwort, let alone tasted it. Mugwort is edible herb and it grows like weed in corner of our backyard. Spring is when young mugwort sprouts and if you know what you're looking for, I bet you can find it growing all around you. It's very common herb found everywhere but most people would never even notice or know it's edible.

the casserole turned out excellent!

The sausages (breakfast kind) have a great flavour profile. The jalapenos are tasty without much heat. The whole combo just works!

Beef and kimchi mandu in beef broth with knife cut noodles. I used the bone broth I made couple days ago. Beef knuckle bones I used ended up making 4 big batches of bone broth and took almost 36 hours to cook from start to finish. But so worth it.

Dinner and a movie last night with the girl - Adaptation with St. Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep starring.

Cooked a bucatini with chicken thighs, summer squash and asparagus tossed in a creamy garlic white wine tarragon sauce with lemon zest - topped with fresh grated parm

Spare ribs going into the new smoker soon. Chuck roast for shredded beef is already in.

Simple pasta bake we've done a few times (pasta, cream cheese, protein, sauce, misc spices, topped with mozzy). This time we went with a greek flair; lamb, cinnamon, oregano, lil' worcestershire, over girelle pasta.
