Was thinking about buying another mouse. :disgust:

Was wondering what you guy have and what you recommend... I heard the cordless opticals are really bad cuz they use up all your batter trying to light the laser.

Flame on!

I use Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical at home. The mouse is excellent for everyday use, but it's not so good at online-gaming (at least it sucks at CS), so I'm planning to plug the cordless mouse to USB-port and plug my old ordinary Logitech wheelmouse to PS2-port and use it for gaming.

I use a Microsoft trackball optical at home. Really nice because it is large enough to fit my hand perfectly, and the four buttons are sometimes useful, the two extra default to forward and back on web browsers.

I use a really crappy stock IBM mouse with two buttons and an eraserhead thingy to scroll at work. It blows.

Logitech optical. Mines has force feedback but I don't enable it.

Logitech Cordless Desktop Optical, the best keyboard and mouse I've ever had. The optical mouse is considerably more precise in fps games than my old one, but that was cordless too (the first cordless set Logitech made). But eats batteries like mad, that's true, one set (2) every 6 weeks.

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer Optical

The very first of the opticals to come out, this was about $75. Its the larger silver one with two buttons on the side as well as the normal buttons.

I'm still using my trusty Logitech Mouseman Wheel.

My only beef is that Logitech's XP drivers suck, so I'm stuck using XP's native drivers and have lost the use of the thimb button.

But I'm too busy/lazy to go get a new mouse.

My Dual Optical's thumb button works fine in XP (as a back button), & I wouldn't install Logitech drivers if you paid me.

It worked the moment I plugged it in, I never had to do anything.

I dunno if it makes a difference, but I use PS/2 instead of USB. But it just worked, no configuration required.

Dammit. That didn't happen for me, or for my Mom when I installed XP on her machine two weeks ago. We both have Mouseman Wheel mouses. Maybe the newer Logitech mouses work, but the old ones don't?

I suppose it's possible, you should grab yourself a dual optical & find out. Wheel mice are a thing of the past, & the dual optical is king of opticals.

Well, I like the Mouseman Wheel because of it's shape. It's perfectly shaped to my hand. Best shape Logitech ever used... but lefties were screwed. Besides, I'm an old fart and change scares me

That's the one gripe I had with the dual optical, I don't like the shape as well as I do the regular optical wheelmouse. It's not nearly as "flickable," if that makes sense. The optical wheelmouse is extremely light, which I like, & relatively low profile. The dual optical is heavier & taller, but the precision makes up for it.

You know, you can return the mouse if you decide you don't like it.
