What kind of performance can I expect in BF2?

A64 3200+@stock
X850XT @ PE speed
1 GB pc3200 Corsair Valueselects
TurtleBeach SantaCruz Soundcard

What kind of resolution, AA/AF can I run BF2 on? Just want to make sure I can run it smoothly at a decent resolution with AA/AF on before buying it.

The only problem with that is the low amount of RAM. Your card can handle high settings, but BF2 will eat up more than 1 Gig with them turned on, so you're looking at lower settings or lots of stuttering. Go for 2 gigs and it should run very nicely.

I ran BF2 on a 3.2 ghz pentium 4 with an X800XT, wh ich is lower than the card you have. I played on 1600 by 1200 reso with 2xaa and "high af" , ingame setting that is. I had everything turned on max besides the aa, and I was playing fine. However I played it with 1 gig of ram, and I tried to get 3 round servers , because 1 gig of ram is not enough for those reso's and settings. I lagged at least for the first half of a game - the end of the first round.

I don't really want to upgrade to 2GB for just one game..(Since I heard BF2 is the only game where 2gb of ram really makes a big difference). Is it possible to get decent frame rate (with minimum stuttering) if I play at 1280x1024 with 4AA/16AF?

Probably with medium textures/geometry/lighting it will be ok.

I noticed lag with textures on medium with a full gig....ever sine the 1.16 path (or whatever the number was) it lagged for the first 5 minutes until I got 2 gigs.

You will be able to play with everthing cranked to the max, but might have to drop down to 1280x960 and maybe drop back to 8xAF. 1gig will get you some stummbling at the start of a server, but it will smooth out rather quickly.

The game takes way too much ram to run and 2gig would be the way to go.

I have a 6800U, 1gig ram and a BartonM @2.4gig and play 1280x960 4xAA 8xAF and everything else maxed. The X850XT is better than my 6800U in BF2

i play with a gig and only notice the stutter for just a few seconds nothing to really worry about

Pretty bad untill the first time you are killed for some reason, then you are good to go at re-spawn it seems.

It lags at the start for me, but once I go threw every weapon and zoom in and out, shoot a bit, its gets steady frames. Apparantly 2 gigs of ram will get rid of this, but I don't really notice it so I'm not gunna waste my money.

With my x800gto clocked at 620/600 i can turn all the details on high, 4xAA, at 1280x1024. With Fraps I get a constant 35- 40 frames, with some dips to 28-30 in heavy fighting. On multiplayer i turn it down to 1024x768 just cause I don't want to get killed for a hiccup in frames. With a x850xt , you would definatly be able to run 1280x1024 with everything on high, 4AA and you would probably still get around 50 frames
