I have a Taurus. 97. 105,000 miles on it. I'd jump in it today and go anywhere in America theres a paved road without too much worry.
So, what about these uber leet sports cars? Can Ferrari go 100,000+ miles? What about Jaq's? Porsche? Lambo? Bugatti?
Are these cars really just garage assecories and eye candy, or can you really use them in a semi daily driver function and get good results insofar as it isnt in the shop for a rebuild every 3rd month?

If you took care of a car like people take care of their Ferarris, I am sure the worst car will give you very high mileage. Exotic cars have very low reliability. Atleast that is what I have heard.

Exotic car reliability has improved... the F40 was one quirky car... but i guess that was what gave it 'character'. If you can afford these cars i don't think you're worried much about reliability. The F40, F50, Enzo engines were based on F1 engines at their time... detuned for road use. Which means they're racecar engines and they were supposed to be rebuilt every now and then. I think the NSX changed a lot of things regarding everyday usability.

How many miles?

Seriously though, its something I've wondered. I'd wanna drive the car every day if I owned a exotic car, but it would be a pain in the ass to have to have it fixed twice a year (Major fixes)

in my neck of the woods i see all types of exotic cars, ferraris, porsches, high end amg benzs, jags and many others, i see them daily so i doubt that everybody keeps them in the garage. a friend drives a mb amg sl600 and hasn't had any problems yet, although it is new, but he drives it hard.

also, if you can afford that kind of car, the maintenance will be done by a real professional, not the dude a wal-mart

imo

How would it be a pain in the ass? Drop it off at the dealership, pick it up a week later. If you can afford a $500,000 car, you can afford a $25,000 car to drive when the ferrari is in the shop.

Ok, look at it like this.
Your dream car is a Ferrari. You save and save, kids through college, house paid for. You *finally* can afford it. Your lifelong dream is realized. But, knowing you cant afford to replace it, do you use it as a semi daily driver?
I'm not talking about uber rich people who throw these things around daily. I'm talking about "average" Joe's who work there ass off to one day own one, and who have to take these things into consideration.
Although, if I did have a exotic, it'd be the certified dealer doin maintanence and thats it. Wal-Mart wouldnt ever see the car, in the garage or parking lot.

i guess in that situation it becomes a weekend car... and i honestly don't see anything wrong with that. the 911 and the 355-360 have been poised to be daily drivers... far cry from the entry level supercars of long ago.
