I've made hundreds of boxes of KD (Kraft Dinner... or whatever you american's call it), and they've all turned out fine in the microwave. you've just got to get a feel for how much water to use. You definately need to use a lot less than if you make it on the stove.
That is one of the funniest things I have read in three years on this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by: ShotgunSteve
Don't every try to microwave normal popcorn, though. When I was younger I got the bright idea of putting normal popcorn in a paper bag and nuking it. Figured the bag was the only difference. After a while I smelled smoke, so I stopped the microwave and opened the door, and the resultant oxygen rush upon the bag of charred kernels resulted in said bag bursting into flame. I grabbed it and ran outside with it so I could drop it on a snowbank.

i am the grand master of cheap college mac and cheese making. I cook the noodles in the microwave in water for a while, check up on it and remove that funk that starts to grow on the sides... then i just add the cheese mix and a dab of milk. It seems simple enough but everytime i make it people love it.

THe secret to microwavable popcorn is the oil in the bag (it is what provides all of the butter taste also). It's superheats the kernels and they pop. If you don't use oil (or something else to provide a heat conductor) they will just smoke and burn.

'Tis also possible to do the plastic-packaged Ramen-type noodles in the micro too... just have to play around with the timing a little...
Have a nifty day!
