That explains a lot. Carson was the real deal, Leno wasn't really funny at all and Conan is a nut job. But you know you are old when current pop culture fails to be impressive and you cling to the old days for solace. Thats ok however, since most things from 1990 forward was garbage anyway.

at least music in the 90's was good for the most part.

you've got to be kidding

I totally agree with his statement. Especially if you compare 90s music to the trash of this decade.

Conan is a nut-job, but a hilarious nut-job.
Going to be interesting seeing how his material adapts, if at all, to the new time-slot.

Sweet jesus do I know what you are talking about. And I'm only 21.
I'm going to be one hell of a comedy routine by time I'm 50 I think.

Kobe is 30, on the tail end of his prime. I remember his first year out of High School

Jay Leno did his last show. I remember sneaking down as a 12 year old/ young teenager to listen to his Clinton/Lewinsky jokes during the week when my parents were asleep

Eminem, the best rapper since 2pac died (yes, I hate most other rap), in his only real good song on his new CD, "Beautiful", said "Ill be one hard act to follow". I remember when he came on the scene he was insane.

Maybe ive drank too much tonight. Who knows. But damn, life goes by.

And I thought you were fifty and contemplating the next hundred years.

In the four years that I've been in college, two of my younger cousins have entered their first decade of life. They were 7 and 9 when I left and now one is about the enter high school like I did 8 years ago. For whatever reason it may be, those 8 years seem like a long time ago...

For the older crowd, do "clumps of years" go by quicker as you get older? Growing old sucks even if I'm only 22...

The cousin I remember holding in my arms just after she was born is about the enter college.
Half my friends have kids of their own.

believe me it's not your 1/3 life crisis, it's more like your 2/3 life crisis. Good luck in these final days.

I was thinking about this the other day and Im only 21... Its just, when looking at younger people and knowing they are experiencing things I might have missed, because I had the most trivial and boring life ever so far (which some would probably consider good, but I just think of it as 0% memorable), and its impossible to go back and fix it... thats depressing

I just hope that when I hit 30 I wont think the same about my 20s, and so on

I was talking with my friend's fiance a couple weeks ago and mentioned that my weight-loss goal was to get back into my clothes from high school, from the mid/late 90's... she was like, "oh, I've still got some clothes from high school too," which prompted me to ask when she graduated and was like "oh, 2 years ago." /facepalm

You need to get out and do something in your life.
Good things dont happen TO you. You make them happen.
Options and possibilities will roll in front of you, but you gotta grab them and make them happen.

Yes. The final 2/3 of my life - provided I live so long - may go by faster than the 1st 1/3, perceptually.

One thing that makes me feel old is the realization that the world has grown more hateful, not less.

One thing that makes me feel young is that I still have the desire to change that, in my own little way.

I'm 27 and feel very young still. There is still so much more to do in life and so much more to learn. Sure, I remember the "good ol' days", but I like where I am now more than I liked back then. I can't wait to see what the next few years will be like. I still feel like a little kid on Christmas, waiting to start a wonderful day of magic. I'm sorry if you don't feel the same way, but know that you can feel this way.

Once you turn 18, there's not too many milestones to look foreward to anymore.

Yet you'll probably have a better chance then than now.
