What midrange phones are coming out?

New to Android. I intended to pick up a Moto G, but the new one has lower pixel density which I can't accept.

What other midrange phones are out or are coming out within a few months? I would have thought a year after the Moto G was released there would be some competition from the other handset makers but I am having difficulty finding any without major flaws.

(I have been trying to search for the past few weeks but I don't have the experience to know what I should be looking for)

What is your budget? You are not going to find a phone with a better screen than the Moto g under $200, off you want a 1080p screen you really would have to look at something like a nexus 5 or possibly a used flagship like a G2 which can be found used for around 250.

Budget is under £400.

It's not resolution I'm looking for but density. Would be happy to get a 3.x" phone with sub-HD resolution.

I'm thinking about just getting a 2013 Moto G, or 2013 Nexus 5 as you say. I find it unbelievable that there aren't any 2014 replacements with 4.x" screens.

Used Moto X, 2013 moto G, used Nexus 5, and people also forget about the Nexus 4. No the camera isn't great but it is still a viable contender in the sub $200 range. And it looks good.

I don't know what price range you consider "mid-range", but I recently got a OnePlus One and am very pleased with it. I had luck asking for an invite in the 1+1 thread.

£400 is $650 USD... that's high-end phone range.
You can get almost anything you want, used.

Nexus 5 or Moto G would be my choices. Older moto G can be had for $100 and nexus 5 for $250, both used. Depends how much you want to spend. Can also probably get the M7 or S4 for same price as the nexus.

I'm hoping for a new Nexus soon and not the rumoured stupid size one.

I promise that the moto g will be your choice. Dont look at the pixel spec, go demo in person......

Is that a real phone that actually exists? Wow.

I put my name down on the invite list.

I will say that it may or may not have a yellow band on the bottom of the screen. Some are worse than others while some people do not notice it. Just so you know...they are a start up from China so support is near non existent.

I had one and if it doesn't have yellow, it's excellent. Slim, fast, and very customizable.

Thanks for the warning. If it does I will just send it back (Assuming I get an invite). The UK has good consumer protection laws for goods ordered online.

I wouldn't count on sending it back. Well you can, but the process will probably take a few weeks. 1 of which you will probably spend just trying to get in contact with them.

It took about 3 weeks just to contact them and get an rma form. Then about another 1.5 weeks for the form to be approved. Once approved, I sent the phone back right away. It then took another 1.5 weeks until my money was sent back in full.

As long as you contact them well within 14 days stating the problem, and asking for a refund, they have to honor it.

The process may be a bit longer now. From what I see in their forum, they are slower than before because more people are having problems. Good thing it's not publicly available for sale yet or else I think they would be in shit's creek without a paddle.

Maybe not, people would probably just return them to retailers and then the retailer would have to deal with one plus.
