What MMO Are We All Playing?

Thinking about jumping into one - what's everyone on these days?

D&D, although my attention span seems to be too short for an mmo now.

Just quit Star Trek Online. Blew through the content in a couple of months. That was with only about 3 hours of week of playing btw. Leveled 3 characters to cap too. Man what a disappointment that game was....

A month ago, after a very long hiatus from MMOs, I started playing Istaria. My inner dragon was calling me and I answered the call. Formerly known as Horizons, Istaria has had many fixes and improvements to the original bugs and problems. The developer team is very small but communicate with their player base and thats more than I can say for many of the MMOs out there. Its still a hard game to play as a dragon but it has its moments that make me glad I tried it again. With only three servers (roleplay, regular, and test) the community is measured in hundreds on each not thousands but the the people there are very friendly and very helpful and supportive. Its not a game for everyone but where else can a person play as a dragon?

none. haven't played an mmo for more than a few days since I quit WoW a few years ago. Nothing else has come anywhere near as close to the fun that WoW was (at least until I hit level 60 and despised raiding and grinding).

I played Horizons too when it first came out. Epic failure was written all over it and I too quit after about two or three months. Like I said Istaria is still a hard game to play and not for everyone. You asked and I replied. ;-)

I played Horizons right after it came out. I was very disappointed. I followed it for a few years before it was released. I loved the original ideas and concept, but in the end, they just didn't have the money.

Haven't played an MMO since WoW, and doubt I will until something quality comes along. Haven't heard about much. I guess I might level in Cataclysm if I have time, but I doubt I'll be raiding unless a lot changes.

I like D&D. Good quests with a bit of story to keep you going, pretty good character customization with a good variety of types to choose from, and best of all, it's free. There's a store that you can buy things from, and you can upgrade your account to an unlimited account, which is

the plan that grants you unlimited access to Premium Dungeons, classes, races, levels, 10 character slots, a monthly allotment of Turbine Points usable at the DDO Store, and more!

i've been playing ddo with a buddy of mine...we both quit WoW (waiting an hour or more to fill a raid is no fun) and started playing it about 1mo ago. i can't complain at all considering it's free. people are friendly and finding grps is painless...or just grab a hireling and off you go. the DDO store is pretty awesome, and the dungeons are refreshingly different than the WoW dungeons

i'm pretty much just biding time til SW:TOR comes out...however, Black Prophecy does look cool as hell

Personally I am concerned about SW:TOR I have a feeling it's going to be a very simple game but who knows. Seems like nothing can grab my interest like old EQ1. I've tried Conan (too small and simple of a world), EQ2 no real challange, Fallen Earth (close but still meh) and the Mortal Online beta (thank god I didn't pay for that crap). Maybe I'll try D&D and have some fun.

Quit WoW when Wrath of the Lich King came out, should have quit a lot earlier.

To get me to play a MMO again the game has to be purely about player skill, not about time spent grinding.

I just started up again. I tend to agree. Stuck in 0.0 with only 4.5m skillpoints, killing 1-2 rats at a time (using over 200 missiles per BS in my Drake). Only to make 4-5m per-hour and having nothing else to do but wait for skills to level up. Might quit again after this month and continue to wait for KOTOR.

Welp nobody said you had to be stuck in 0.0 in a drake...of all ships. Not really one I would suggest for ratting in 0.0. Can be done, just takes for bloody ever. For a lower SP player I would suggest doing some mission grinding till you're at the point where you can take out 0.0 rats quicker skillwise.

Personally I'm enjoying the 0.0 life but then again I have characters at 58 mil SP, 23 mil SP and 8.8 mil SP and I'm also a part of IT and enjoying the invasion of the North.

Lord of the Rings Online. The environments are still beautiful and you can solo pretty much every quest (and epic quest) or group, or you can play as a monster (warg, orc, spider, etc.) and kill people in PvP.

Other than that, the community is better than the pre-teens in WoW and the Sperglords in Eve.

I am currently playing none. I'm waiting until something a bit more sandbox and hard core comes out.

I want a game that isn't just about running between quest dudes, killing 10 bats, and gain a reward. Games that have every towns person give a question to kill rabbits to make rabbit stew like everybody is that inept in doing the simpliest of chores really kills the immerson for me.

WoW was the worst in that regard.
Aion was just as bad but atleast the random PVP kept me on my toes a bit more so I enjoyed it more.
EQ2 was a bit better but still the same type of crap.
EQ1 was a nice sweet spot originally.

Waiting... But I'm not finding much at the moment on the horizon.

EQ (seriously). Went back to WoW for a month but the game seems to get ever more dumbed down.

Corpse runs, experience penalties for dying, trains - loving it.

Shame the graphics and interface are medieval

Characters in the ice chest in WoW.
I should be able to have time for SWTOR MMO once it's released.
