Large house one telephone line.
The house wiring interfers with the modem on max ie 56k.
With the rest of the house disconnected the modem operates at max AOK.
Way back in the way back fax machines and eary modems had in and out jacks The in jack was line in, the out jack going to the rest of the phones on a line. When the fax or modem were "on line" they would disconnect the out jack. This was called line grabbing ie it grabbed the line exclusivly.
All the modems I have checked so far are cheap and the phone and line jacks seem to be bridged so that when the modem is "on line" the phone is still connected.
I havent got acces to many but perhaps some one knows of a generaly available modem that still disconnectes the phone jack
Thankyou Jim.Bob
