What Monitoring/Burn-In Software Do I need?

I haven't done a major OC on a system since a Celeron 366>550. I've noticed that some things have changed since then.

The components I just ordered from NewEgg are as follows: Retail Athlon64 3000+ (s939), Soltek SL-K8TPro-939, and 2x512MB PQI PC3200.

I am, of course, hoping to get this thing to about 2.4GHz. I can figure out BIOS settings, but what software should I be using for good stress tests and monitoring? Any suggestions you folks could give me would be great.

Also, any idea if my Volcano7+ from my AthlonXP 2400 will work with a 939?

Finally, if you wouldn't mind posting the wattage on your PSU, that'd be great, too. Thanks!

Well, for starters, any program that really stresses the CPU is a good stress-tester, popular programs are Prime95, SuperPi (with 16m/32M calculations), 3DMark in a large number of loops +++

For monitoring of fan speeds and temperatures, i fanzy SpeedFan, but other popular programs are Motherboard Monitor, Everest +++

I don't think the old cooler will fit your new CPU very well, not only being too small, but also having a different lock-type.

I have no idea what kind of Graphics card you got, but a 400W PSU would probably be more than enough for your "light" system...

I like to run Prime95 while looping 3DMark2001... 3DMark2003 might be better though now since it stresses the video card a bit more, and Prime 95 will keep the CPU and memory stressed. Can you loop 2k3? Hmmm... maybe not...

Sure you can! In exactly the same way as 3DMark01... You can't loop the CPU tests though, just the Game Tests.

My "light" system will also include two optical drives, four 7200RPM IDE drives, a 1394 PCI card and a (hangs head in shame) GeForce 5700. I thought that a 400W - 450W would do it, but in an article on PC3200 RAM and the Athlon64, the author mentions that a 520W PSU is recommended. So I thought I'd see what you all are running.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll set out to download these pieces of software.
