Ok, here is my problem. I am going to be getting a whole new system and am not sure what platform to go to. Whether that platform is the DDR or the SDR memory is one question and of course the next is what motherboard versus what platform.
Here I think are my logical choices for Memory which is what I will base my decision against. The newest of the pack of course is the Corsair 2400 memory that was just reciently introduced by Corsair which according to some test blows away most other memory as far as stability and top speed.
http://www.ocprices.com/index.php?command=view&ID=434 and also http://www.fullon3d.com/reports/corsair/pc2400/pc2400.kevin.shtml
The part number being CM64SD256-2400-C2. This would be my choice of memory for a DDR board and I have based most of my time researching DDR based boards and memory until I talked to a salesman at OCR who sells OCable chips with guarantees on what chip stepping you get. Link for them is http://ocz.safeshopper.com/
Anyway when I talked with the guy there he mentioned that with the DDR
you are only gaining 10% versus pc133 and that you could and should be able to run pc166
memeory at 150 FSB speeds and get equal if not better performance with that. He also said that he suggested to use a 1GHz processor with the stepping of AXIAR and that with that stepping you should reach 1.55Ghz on average out of a 1Ghz proc which is about 50 bucks cheaper than a 1.33Ghz proc that only reaches 1.66Ghz on average. see
http://www.athlonoc.com/newsteppings.php
and one reason he suggests the 1Ghz above the 1.33Ghz is that he says with the 1.33Ghz that you may not get above 1.5Ghz if you are using a 300Watt Power Supply and he recommended using a 400Watt Power Supply for 1.3Ghz Athlons and above.
That is now my question.
1.> Would I want to go with a DDR based or a SDR based system and why???
2.> If going with a DDR Setup what board would you choose a MSI K7 Master or a EPox 8K7A and why?
3.> If going with a SDR Setup what board would you choose? Iwill kk266??? I didnt research these at all so any input here will help.
4.> Any suggestion on a good case that is not extremely expensive and that either allows for your own power supply (in the case of 400Watt) or allows 400Watt PS in it.
Sorry for so many questions but I hope I provided lots of info to go on and I certainly respect your experience with OCing. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
