I dont get that.

Isnt the whole point that as your mouse sensitivity increases, the need for bigger mouse pads decreases? I have the QPAD Pro Gamer high sense mousemat which is pretty small. Smaller then an A4 sheet and it serves me more then well enough as 1600dpi and 2000dpi, you only need slight movements to move vast distances.

So please explain, why the need for a mousemat the size of an A3 sheet! lol.

In some games, you may want to go to a lower dpi. ie. Sniping in BF2 - 400 dpi but in armor - 1600dpi

Personally I use a £3.99 mousemat off eBay. With MP40's on. Obviously a skill booster right there

I must confess curiosity as to the requirements for a huge mousemat, I have no problems with mine hand it's of generic size, I forget the exact measurements.

The func 1030 isn't huge, (10"x8.5") slightly larger than standard I suppose. It's main advantage is the surface itself... it has a surface on each side that can be used, each with unique properties. But the question here is size, and when it comes to FPS gaming, size matters. Why? Well ideally you want as low a sensitivity setting that you can effectively play with because it makes aiming MUCH easier. The lower the sens, the more precise your aim and that is a huge advantage in competitive multiplayer. With the sensitivity set so low you naturally need a larger pad. Some will say they play just fine with a high sens. and I won't argue, I used to game with a trackball with a very high setting, and I was pretty good. But I wanted to be better so I switched to a mouse and adjusted my sens. until now it's very low. In Q3 for example, I used to use like a 22 setting, now I use 1.2. And yes, I am a much better player now...

I bet I'd beat your ass on CS:S, COD and every console game out there!

Rebranded sUrface1030 by Alienware. Got it for free at a LAN party. Added a squishy gel wrist rest to compliment it.

You might, but I don't do consoles, and have never played CS:S or COD. I guarantee I would own you all day in any "true" deathmatch shooter though....

So what kind of gaming do you do?
Do you play any games that require high sensitivity and accuracy?
Perhaps Battlefield?

Dont tell me you do only play MMORPG's?

Quake series mostly, some HL2. CS:S is geared more towards teamplay, I prefer deathmatch.

LMAO, now why would you need accuracy for that?

Thats what I was thinking

I used to play the old quakes multiplayer to death, but after Quake 3 Arena never really got back in to it. Havnet played my Quake 4 yet as I was waiting for a better set up, now my X1900 XTX is on its way, I'll be sure to get back in to it, perhaps we can have a game or two?

I know I'm much better at deathmatch fragging games then tactical teamplay, I played Half Life 2 Deathmatch the other day for about 2 hours and I think I came first in all but 1 match. lol. I could never say the same for CS:S.

Ahh. I see. I'm using a generic Microsoft optical mouse POS. works for what I do, so.. Not gonna spend money on a new mouse. Not that I have space for a bigger mat!

Guess it's beneficial that I don't really game a whole lot.

I got a huge generic mousepad from office depot for like $3. It is about as big as ~2.5 pieces of regular printer paper. I honestly say it works just fine, i dont know how a new mouse pad could improve anything.

If you are a good gamer you are a good gamer, a new mousepad doesn't make or break gamers.
