Lemony Snicket and Mortal Kombat are two of those I read mentioned here that I really liked. The second Mortal Kombat was probably the worst movie I have ever seen... well, it's actually tied with Flags of our Fathers.

Funny thing is if you watch it as the director intended, as a serious piece of spiritual art, it really stinks. Far to much eastern mysticism and mumbo jumbo. However, simply as a set piece of effects, music, editing, and story telling I find it quite enjoyable!

People don't like Alexander? I thought it was well done. Not a favourite, but it has more than enough good scenes and is high quality.

Magnolia is my absolute favourite movie, and is pretty love-hate.

I'm the only one in my circle of friends that really enjoyed this movie. I find it beautiful and heart-wrenching. I'm also a sucker for symbolism. People claimed I only liked it because it was directed by Darren Aaranofsky... good thing The Wrestler proved them wrong, in that one of my favorite directors could indeed make a shit-show of a movie.

After reading through the thread there are quite a few movies here that I like and I think a lot of people like them, for example Magnolia and Raising Arizona. I also enjoyed The Fountain and Waterworld (gets a bad rap; it's not awesome, but I liked it).

Who doesn't like Raising Arizona? That movie is hilarious.

I like Waterworld too. I think it's another movie that didn't live up to the hype, but a good movie. IIRC, at the time it was the biggest budget ever for a Movie, so expectations were very high for it.
