Awesome performance by a major talent in tribute to two of music's biggest twentieth century influences. Without the black American bluesmen the British invasion would have been colorless (no pun intended), rock would be much less interesting and blues virtually unknown to most people. (Ironically, a lyrics search for "Spoonful" will likely be dominated by Cream, not Howlin' Wolf.)
Today i heard about the famous "Amen break".
It is a drum loop i have heard often, but i always thought it was created on a drum computer and then sampled by others. But today i found out that the often used sample is a sample from a drumsolo (1:26) by a real drummer named Gregory Cylvester "G. C." Coleman. The song is from 1969.
I think these guys live down here at New Port Richey, I usually go every year if I see em at the Jazz Fest or used to.
Pretty funny I looked up their web site and they were up at Muncie IN at Ball State University a few days ago.
I worked near there for years in the 80's go figure, I have liked the more or less awhile in an off way, when I moved to Florida was funny seeing they were next door neighbors, more or less.
