OK, I have seen a Polestar parked outside one of the facilities where I work on campus, a few days recently. Wasn't sure what it was, but thought that badge must be a Polestar. This confirms it.

Pretty sharp looking car. I'd say that if you aren't into the squared-off, boxy look of todays vehicles, this one probably does it best, even for those folks.

To add to my Taycan sighting the other day, in Pittsburgh, I've since seen:
--911 Turbo S
--NSX (2018)
--GT3 RS

....the first two, owned by a friend, and I have shitty garage photos and may post later....the 2nd parked on a local street this morning. Later today, currently scheduled to watch a 2003(?) GT3 Cup do some laps at the local track (yes, owned by the same friend )

I saw another Rivian SUV today, in white. I like it in pictures, but in person, it's just kind of small & generic, which is weird, because the truck version is OUTSTANDING! I've been seeing a LOT more Rivian trucks cruising around, love the design!

Would he trust you with his car on his track?

Totally not trying to drive a wedge between you and your friend

no absolutely not and I would not even consider asking. He did offer the NSX and 911, though (for surface streets)....but weather and timing were shit this week. Same with today, and Canadian terrorism via smoke. We transported his race car up to the track but that was about it which, by then, was the best he was hoping for with the conditions and timing of everything today. Oh well.

I still have yet to see the SUV. Is it smaller than the Kia or Hyundai ev?

Physically it looks smaller, although it appears to be larger. But you lose width & also have the battery so you lose some interior space:

Also the Kia SUV is half the price haha. Unless you specifically want EV + performance, I'd go with the Kia over the Rivian SUV personally. The Telluride is REALLY great machine! Although I don't know anyone personally with a Rivian SUV yet, so I haven't had a chance to test-drive one yet!

Speaking of why, why did Mazda bother making it and more importantly, why did someone actually spend money on this?

Finally got to see the R1S up close and personal today. Surprised it to so long considering the plant is only 20 minutes away. I was hoping the owner would notice me taking pics so I could strike up a conversation but nobody came out to ask me what the hell I was doing. lol

Anyway, pretty cool looking SUV. Reminds me of the R1T just no bed. Looked through the windows and interior was strikingly similar to the R1T I got to take a ride in. Alright enough talk onto some pics.

I'm still unsure about the front end styling but I appreciate the overall design is relatively clean.

I didn't think I'd stumble across two finds in one night but I guess the stars aligned and this gem showed up on the lot when I was dropping off my Maverick to be detailed.

It's not very often you get a chance to see a Chevy SSR in person but I'm glad I did. This thing is ugly but cool all at the same time. lol

EPA-estimated 100-mile range? I've never even heard of this car lol.
The MX-30 is what I'd call a compliance car. Enough to boost the lineup's average fuel economy and not much else.

Mazda does recognize that it has to make good electrified vehicles, hence newer options like the CX-90 PHEV, but it's like most other Japanese makes in being relatively late to pure EVs.

Oh, forgot to mention a big sighting I had last week: I was at a show where they had the Euro-spec (two-row) VW ID. Buzz.

Even in this config, it's big and spacious... it's a dream EV for family road trips. The design seems to strike the right balance between modernity and nostalgia.

Test drove a 2021 McLaren GT today with no intention of buying it. Just something spontaneous I decided to do.

Despite it having a little bit more horsepower than my R8, it did feel sluggish off the line. I guess the NA V10 wins there. It did pull hard once it did start moving. Hearing the blow off valves from the turbos on decel was pretty neat.

The build quality was questionable. Panel gaps were all over the place. The driver side door looked like it had half a millimeter clearance from the fender while the passenger side looked to have two to three millimeters. There was some leather pealing on one of the interior panels behind the passenger seat.

The check engine light was on during the whole test drive.

Just for fun I asked them how much they would give me for my R8. They came back with $156k. Not bad from a dealer considering I paid MSRP for it 15 months ago at $151k (before taxes, title, and Audi Care).
