Finally saw a Rivian in the wild on the road! (random google pic below) Really gorgeous in-person, great styling, perfect size for a little around-town pickup. I just wish they were like $24k instead of $67k+!

That's what pains me about so many of these EVs. Most aren't in high-volume production, so the brands focus on higher profits and toss in lots of extras you really don't need. I'm not so naive as to think Rivian could make a $40K electric truck right now like Ford can, but I would happily do without all the driver assists, the Bluetooth speaker, the flashlight, the vegan leather...

I gotta say, the vegan leather on the Tesla is absolutely brilliant. The seats are super comfy & the white can literally withstand grape juice stands, which is absolutely bonkers!

But yeah...we're still in the early-adopter phase of EV's. Hopefully they'll figure out some kind of breakthrough for longer distances & fast charging. The core reason I put a deposit down on the Cybertruck was for the 500-mile battery, but hopefully they'll put the Roadster 2.0's 620-mile battery in there as an option! Of course that will probably push it north of $100k so no thanks from me lol.

Saw the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer today. Another example of a car that is fairly photogenic in pictures, but pretty dang ugly in person haha. Like, nothing about it looked right, especially (1) the stretch, and (2) the flat back end. It's hard to explain without seeing it in person, because in pictures, it just looks like a regular SUV, but in-person, yuck lol.

look my car had a date...
Nice to see someone with a good taste after a while...

Man, I love old pickup trucks! My grandpa had one & my dad had one, good memories of wrenching on the engine & tooling around in them. That's why I like the new Maverick so much...$20k for 40mpg in an old-style townie pickup truck format, but with airbags, A/C, Carplay, etc. haha!

Totally agree. Sadly new ones will not have some of the features i demand from a car. For example triangle vent windows, flat bench seats in front, non-turbo engines and as little as possible electronic

I see the Polaris Slingshot pretty often here, at least once a week. It really stands out anywhere you see it. It looks like it would be great fun to rent for a few weeks, but I wouldn't want it as a daily driver.

I finally saw my first Maverick on Monday. (The truck kind.) It really is about the size of the latest Escape crossover, but with the cargo area replaced with a truck bed.

I think that if they had a plug-in hybrid version I would have bought it by now.

A guy in my town owns one, I always see him driving around it in. It looks like the Batmobile! Really awesome-looking in person! Another guy has a CanAm Spyder, but I think the Slingshot looks way cooler!

I really like it! tbh it's my go-to recommendation for a new car for people who are looking for something like a Honda Civic. $20k for 40mpg in truck format is a great starting price!

Talked to the original owner about her 2005 G500 w/40K miles. Neat wagon that you don't see all that often especially around my area.

But then I see that every day because I own it. I have posted it here before so apologies for those seeing it again.
1941 Ford pick up with a 1962 327 in it. Manual 3 speed. No electronics to mess up on it. The speedometer is the app on my phone. The check engine light is if the engine is smoking. It is called Elmer after a crazy old uncle I had. I bought is as a working truck, it even holds a full size sheet of plywood that I was able to buy with our home equity loan.

One fun part is when you see a cool car driving down the street, we both wave at each other. Usually I am the older one, and the truck is too.

I saw a Jaguar i-Pace EV yesterday. It sort of reminded me of the Land Rover Evoque, how it looks smooshed on top, except the Jaguar really had a Looney Toons anvil dropped on it, then got stretched out like taffy. I was surprised at how LONG it looked in-person lol.

This was actually the reason I opened this thread, I saw this Jeep at work and I thought it looks angry.

Jeeps (well Wranglers) are the Miata of SUVs, so its someone trying to insist that they aren't gay.

Even though I love the blue and white stripes, and bright green was a good look too, dark red looks pretty nice on Vipers. I can see why they went with it on the most recent one for the launch.

The iPace is so awkward looking. There's even more awkward styling details when you see one up close in person, like the taillights are actually squared off in a weird way. I think with some tweaks it wouldn't be bad.

The Ars car writer is...I stopped bothering with his articles. He praised the looks of the iPace but said the Mach E looks bulbous. The iPace would look better if they'd gone the route Ford did, where they blacked out the roof in a way to give it more room/practicality whilst making it look like it has a swoopier roofline. Jaguar did the total opposite, made a swoopy roofline that they tried to make seem like its more squared off like an SUV.

Its like a reverse mullet, party up front, business in the back. Actually I think that was a similarly ridiculed hairstyle from the UK (where it's like weird stringy extended bangs but then short in the back?
