Not a car per se, but the SUV ahead of me on the highway had the license plate "1" (just the number one). I had to do a double-take because I thought it was a blank license plate at first haha!
How did it get past the gate sentry?Lucid Air. Surprised to see one near my house.
I don't live in a gate community, that is more of an American thing. Oh wait, condos here have those guard house thing. How did it get past the gate sentry?
I passed two of them today on a 10 mile drive in the R8. Rare that I see 1. Looks like they too are becoming less obscure.Lucid Air. Surprised to see one near my house.
Loved that Opel! We Americans who love the longroofs as the best of most all worlds are fucked by our SUV crazy compatriots. THIS is why we can't have nice things.I’ve seen two Regal TourXs this month in addition to my own. I have been seeing about one per year.
I am in Canada, so it is a rarer sight here than where you are xd.I passed two of them today on a 10 mile drive in the R8. Rare that I see 1. Looks like they too are becoming less obscure.
Ok. I guess I'm playing this game now. Saw an electric blue Huracan yesterday. A Citroen DS station wagon passed by while I was stopped at a Stop Sign. And a couple of wide-blister, meaty-tired Porsches went roaring up my road this afternoon. Likely turbos? Didn't get a good look.
I've seen the Rivians occasionally. The odd headlight arrangement has kind of grown on me...so, when I stopped at a yard sale the other day and the guy owned a Rivian truck, I asked if I could sit in it. (I'm tall from the ass up and don't fit in a LOT of vehicles.) Sadly, the door opening in the Rivian is one of those that's too short for me. (Yes, the seat was all the way down and back) The top of the door opening hit me about mid-ear. MAYBE, if I contorted my head/neck I could get into the truck...but I have a fucked up neck, so that doesn't work for me. (the same problem kept me from buying one of the Volvo XC40 electric cars a month ago.)So my friend got a Rivian truck. I haven't driven it yet, but I got to check it out. Really really fun vehicle. I also like it a lot better IRL than the Rivian SUV.
That guy is annoying. I think he REALLY likes to hear himself talk and blather on. I don't disagree with him about the Citroen. They made some interesting cars.I just finished re-watching The Mentalist TV show & he drove the non-wagon version:
Neat (long) video on the car:

FWIW I was more comfortable in the Tesla Model 3 than the S (6' here). The Y is roomier (same chassis, but more legroom) & the X is the most spacious (but also starts at $98k lol).I've seen the Rivians occasionally. Even though they're more common around here, I haven't had the chance to see how I'll fit in any Tesla...yet.
The R8 will stand the test of time.I got to check out a 2020 Audi R8 Decennium today. It had some special limited-edition package with a twin-turbo that had the top of the engine painted or plated with gold or something, started with a "W", I forget. You could hear it coming from a mile away, pretty spiffy lol. I was surprised at how small & squatty it was, and the top was more like a VW Beatle kind of a bubble. Looked more comfortable to ride in than the original, haha!
No photo but a Bricklin SV-1 parked in a driveway. Talk about a truly rare sight!
I've seen a surprising number of those on the road lately. It's basically the Model 3 for people who don't like Elon or just prefer the Volvo aesthetic.I saw a Polestar 2 today. It’s the least interesting looking electric on the road, IMHO.
What surprises me is that China/Korea are not getting into the cheap EV action, considering they can produce their designs at a fraction of the cost of the big names. But I guess regulatory compliance would be a headache for them.
I suspect South Korea will, but not until there's more US-based manufacturing. If Chevy can price the Equinox EV at $30K, I'm sure Hyundai/Kia could make something in that ballpark. What surprises me is that China/Korea are not getting into the cheap EV action, considering they can produce their designs at a fraction of the cost of the big names.
