That kind of ignorant retarded thinking is the problem. And that goes for both sides.

There was literally nothing done wrong. This should be a routine passing. The Republicans decided to hold the routine hostage to their demands. The Democrats did NOT do anything wrong, because there was nothing to do here that wasn't routine.

Isn't it funny that the "both sides are equally bad, so vote republican" are never actually able to point out exactly WHAT the democrats have done wrong?

If you paid attention, you'd have learn that back in April democrats sent John Boehner a request to do just that, meet and compromise.

Johnny said NO!

And now, at the last few minutes Johnny suddenly reverses?

Do you let your kids play that way with their friends?

There is nothing to compromise on. One side offered demands with no concessions. What is there to talk about? This is routine. If the Repulicans want to make themselves into a laughing stock, that is fine... but the Democrats have nothing to "compromise" on, because this is a routine that isn't relevant to their demands.

Ok so what if the Senate takes up the House's proposal to hold a conference.. Would Boehner select moderates and leave out the tea party Republicans and ultimately pass a clean CR?

Doubt it, since he could have already passed the clean CR that the Senate previously sent him. All he had to do was put it up for an up-and-down vote.

Lets see if John Boehner has buyers remorse in the next few days.
He got his way. Total Shutdown.

Like when you finally get your way, get your hands on that new iPhone for example, then discover it isn't quite the God send the advertisement claimed.

Two things you can rely on with buyers remorse....
The initial adrenaline rush from the initial win.
The following user frustration from that old buyers remorse.

Will John Boehner suffer buyers remorse?

You can imagine the tea party tea parties and dancing in the streets from their little dirty diaper gift handed to the American public tonight.
But tomorrow when they realize this isn't some game, and more so when rational public realizes this isn't some game, and tea party realize they just hurt old grandma, their relative that is government employed, everyones 401K, a friends employment, and the never ending unanswered ringing phone when they too attempt to call a government agency for assistance with some personal issue.

Buyers remorse. Here it comes.

I really don't understand why anyone is blaming either side over the other. This is a systematic failure of our entire political system. I'm pretty sick of everyone blaming 'the other side'.

  • Yes, the Tea Party is being ridiculous as always.
  • Yes, the Democrats are doing their best to trash the Republicans and Obama's claims of, "I’m not going to negotiate" make it obvious that this is the goal.
  • Yes, the Republicans are being morons.

Seems like everyone is to blame to me.

Sadly, it isn't a total shutdown. DHS will still be operating. NSA will still be operating. Tea baggers will still get their Medicaid scooters. At this point, with 20 years of Republican tantrums, the voters deserve a total shutdown. Close the ports, pull the air traffic controllers, stop Medicare reimbursements to doctors, stop SS payments. Maybe voters would grow the hell up and start voting their self interests instead of their hatreds and fears.

Anyway, my prediction is that it will be over by Monday. After a week those 800,000 laid off middle class workers (thanks Republicans!) will be eligible to file for unemployment benefits. The governors will scream bloody murder if the states have to pick up the tab for this latest Republican stupidity.

Obama and the Senate could have made a deal.

I lost patience for the way both sides are attempting to frame this debate months ago. Our government is set up with shared power, if the President and the Senate refuse to negotiate with the House that was elected just as legitimately as the President and the Senate then they are just as much at fault.

It's time for all of our elected officials to begin the process of pulling their heads out of their asses.

Because yes, they are lodged that far up there.

More ignorance from the ignorant. Your desire to place equal blame on all sides is part of the problem. It's obvious that you are uninformed about, not only what is currently going on, but also what has been happening for the last several years.

Only one party has promised, both on camera and off, to block everything the president has done, only one party has, both on record and off the record, promised its constituents that they will push for a government shutdown (for several years I might add).
Only one party has been determined to lie about anything and everything from legislation that has been passed or proposed to manufactured scandals.

But it's the people, such as yourself, that are barely aware of what's going on, who throw their hands in the air and say, "whelp, both sides suck!", that allow idiots to get into Washington with the goal to destroy to be allowed to happen.

Thanks for being uninformed!

This is the scary part, these idiots genuinely appear to be confused about why there's even a problem to begin with. This reminds me of the 2011 battles where the Republicans were desperately attempting to educate their new members on basic economics.
Yeah, the establishment had to educate the new members on keynesian economics of big spending and big debt creation and government's magical budget process called "Baseline Budgeting" where a spending "cut" means an increase in spending.

Looking forward to the shutdown, I can't wait to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm hoping they can leave it that way.

The government needs to be dismantled and destroyed, and now is as good a time as any.

Yep! So idiots like you and those that already have the money, the power, and the influence, can create a new government that won't completely shit on the American people. Because, you know, it's not like those people have been shittinf on your average American for years.

I really hope the Republican party dies in an election or two. Whatever good it might have provided to America is being far surpassed by all the garbage they have put us through in recent memory. Their members have their heads so far up their ass that reality is completely out or reach for them.

IMO AT's P&N is a microcosm of the problem with politics (not just in the US) as a whole. "This is my side's strategy, this is your side's strategy, this is a game of chess and our side must win", as opposed to "We're here to solve our country's problems, that's the highest priority. We may have different points of view on the problems and their solutions, but we're here to come up with the best possible solution given the circumstances".

Instead it's some sort of guerilla warfare where politicians choose the battles they can win, try to undermine the opposition as much as possible and use anything against them.
