n0cmonkey, that is very well said. I have always being a firm believer in equal input into a relatiionship. I am sick a tired of girls going the ways they like to do and expect me to do the same 24/7. why can't they go down to the computer shop with me? play lan with me? or even read a science magazine (this last point about the science magazine is not that obvious, but not many people read them every day or so. However, the point being, why can't they put up with what i do and show some respect?)

Having said this however, if boys are trying to chat up with a girl, then i think that he has to adapt to the first. then, after a while, if she dosent show you respect for what you like to do, then....

If a girl knows me well enough to ask what I did the previous day, she knows me well enough to be interrested for 2 minutes. Of course, if she really doesnt care she shouldnt ask.

And did you stop him and move to conversation that was exciting and interresting for you both?

Asked why she had come alone, she arched her eyebrows and swiveled her chair nearly 180 degrees and repeated, "Alone? I'm with him," pointing to a man in the next chair who was close to oblivious, so locked was he into his online struggle between good and evil. "I want him to enjoy himself, so I don't talk when he's gaming."

That's right bitch, now gimme a beer.

Sometimes I cant help it and I go off on a new game to my gf, and she usually thinks its kinda cute. The point is not to overdo it, and that goes for anything. If she went on and on about something that I wasnt totally interested in, I'd prob lose my mind too. Sometimes you just wanna blab about something that they dont understand just to share your joy in something, but it helps if you gf likes to play games too. Fortunately, mine does.

The guy should slap a "geek" sign on his back.

Geeks are an edangered species. They don't procreate. So now we're ending up with an overwhelming majority of rednecks, since they aren't smart enough to boot a computer, they just have sex with their cousins all day.

civilization is doomed

Here's my perspective on this subject: He gave the right response, despite how boring it sounded to her.

First off, I'm not into video or computer games at all. However, I have read of many women/girls who play counterstrike. I do not think that that's foreign.

She asked him a question. If she doesn't care about what brings him a smile, then too bad. I think that people should be frank as often as possible. If gaming is his nature, then the lady needs to know that. If this girl happens to dislike it, then too bad because if he fakes it with an answer that would please or excite her, when the time comes she'll be very disappointed living a boring life with a boring person. He did the right thing! There'll always be a lady out there who's into that (e.g., gaming) too or doesn't mind hearing about his hobbies.

hahah funny thread

a female freind of my wife and I came over the other day... well, they got on the topic of female things... I quickly booted up the PC and loaded Jedi Knight and proceded to cut as many arms off as possible. Unfortunately, they were at the dining table and my PC station isn't too far from there so I still heard the occasional "... my mensi..." and "... bikini wax.."

He should have done what I always do...
make it like a story....

"ok, here's the scene, i'm the only one left for our team, 4 other guys going around...so i set up us the bomb so they would come my way...in the mean while, i find a better gun on the floor, pick it up, and find a nice hiding place...i hear the 4 guys come in, jump out surprise 1, kill another, and switch to my pistol and kill the 3rd, but then my pistol ran out of ammo and the 4th one got me."

even better stories with starcraft...

but yeah, make it interesting if she's not into games...

No, I didn't sniff the panties. What if someone was watching me? From inside the laundry room you can't see outside because of reflections on the windows so I would have no idea.

They are both boring subject, deal with unpleasant situations, and involve blood.

bahahahahahahahahahahahahha .... awesome!

Seriously, I do know a girl who not only is into CS but was in a CAL-main clan until recently when things kinda fell apart. But those are few are far between.

Leave the nerdiness at home, fellow hunters. And when you do leave it at home, leave it *outside* the bedroom, lest thy potential bedmate see the "I (heart) Linux" posters splattered on the wall or your cosplay anime tentacle pr0n background.

Yes, I did have a roommate like that. Yes, he was a complete and total failure when it came to women. No, he had no idea why.

Edit - and yes, the Miata is a "girly car". The RX-7 Turbo is not.

Oh my, woo, this thread is a good way to start the day.

Not a comp geek as much as I used to be, but I'm into literature, philosophy, religion, etc... I'm always surprised at how few women can calmly discuss anything of the sort... of course, there aren't many guys who can do that, either.

Lol! That is sad..... I wonder if that person is on AT? o:

That guy should've waited until he's in a relatioinship with that chick before diverting all attentions to the computer and ignore her.

Here's another thing to consider. Why bother talking to someone about something you know they're not interested in? I don't bother. If I know the person I'm talking to is completely uninterested by computers, I won't start talking about computers. Seems rather idiotic to me. I attempt to make conversation that actually has relevance to the person or that'd spark some interest/entertainment of some sort. I wouldn't want her to start talking to me about some crap I'm utterly bored by, so I won't do that to her. It's kind of stupid to demand someone listen to your blather. Just keep it to yourself or for someone who cares. If everyone did that, people would have interesting conversations, and women uninterested by computers wouldn't be frightened by geeks trying to make moves.

Because when a friend asks what I have been up to the answer is usually computer related. If Im proud/frustrated/whatever about something that has been going on with them lately Ill give them a quick rundown, they will call me a nerd, and we will get a drink. Friends should care, whether they find the topic interresting or not, to listen for 5 minutes. Just my opinion, maybe I ask too much of people.

lol, girls r strange, me go hide in the corner

But seriously, I won't go talking about techno geeky stuff the girl's not interested in hearing. I'm not much of a conversation carrier, but I do have patience to listen to what others have to say, whether I'm interested in it or not, simple respect for the person.

Some girls are a handful to deal with. They can go off on an emotional bloody tangent anytime!! Some are really nice to talk to. Just gotta learn how to train the ear to filter out unnecessary wavelengths
