Since my 2 favorites have gone the subscription route(IGN and Gamespot), I haven't been able to find a site which really has good reviews of games. What sites do you guys recommend?
i miss dailyrader, it was the bomb, i still wish they didn't take it off, it doesn't seem like it was even up long and it was supposed to be huge, with what like pc gamer + next generation + some other magizens combining to make it.
I subscibe to both IGN and Gamespot. I don't really see why people bitch about this. You are getting the same info you would get from a magazine although with more info, more updates, better pics, videos, and downloads. You pay for a magazine, why not pay for this. Its just 20 bucks. I HATE ppl that totally disagree with this idea.
EDIT:
I'm not saying YOU are bitching.... I can understand that most ppl don't have money to pay for sites and you're looking for an alternative. Other ppl, not you
GameRevolution is an excellent and truthful site. They only update twice a week, but I agree with most of their opinions. The mailbags are funny, occasional articles are honest and critical, and the pages load very quickly, unlike aformentioned sites.
For preview material, I'm finding myself using www.computerandvideogames.com a lot more lately. The possible disadvantage is that it's a UK-based site, so their release date data isn't always applicable for US readers.
For reviews, I still use IGN (I'm pretty sure their subscriber content eventually migrates to free after a week or two), but also use Gamespy and occasionally Adrenaline Vault. Additionally, Neoseeker is a reasonable meta-site from which to locate other reviews.
I like IGN but I can't take the ads every time you click somewhere. "Continue Here to Reviews" <click> "Continue Here to (insert game title here" <click> "Continue to page 2 of review" UGHHHH
