What OS do you use?

Security? SP3 was released ~3 years ago, are you still scared of it breaking something?



Given how old the story of King Kong is, the analogy seems pretty apt. =)

I am getting a new computer with the latest Windows in a few months.

If I survived for all these years without SP3 then I can survive for a couple more months without it. At this moment I have ZERO interest in getting SP3.

Win Xp Pro Sp2 has served me well for years and very soon I will upgrade to Win 7

XP Pro SP3 at work. They just got the last of us updated to SP3 within the last 6 months, so I figure they will be done vetting Win7 but early 2014 or so. To be fair when I got out to the office in March of this year I was using one of the oldest systems that they still had in circulation. A Prescott P4 w/ 1GB RAM.

I use Windows 7 and Linux.Windows 7 look are very nice and provide excellent feature.I currently use windows 7 x32 bit at home and use for linux at Office. Linux is provide security.windows 7 built by Microsoft.

7 on netbook.

Installing 7 on desktops isn't really worth it, seeing as they only support dx9. They are beasts at handling best of dx9 though.

I obviously do not have enough computers, as i would like to have linux & mac machines. One day, though.

I have it on my home desktop it isn't too bad once you turn off Metro. I will give the metro/desktop thing a try when the beta drops, but right now there isn't much point to it.

Been having graphics driver issues of late, not sure what is up with it.

I just made some major changes.... i.rarely use my laptop anymore (basically just for my dj setup)
But it runs win7.

My htpc/fileserver runs xp mce....all it gets used for is a source for the home theator and storage

My main machine nowdays is a dual processor tablet running android gingerbread...which i love....favorite os right now

Sp3 offers no real (not much) advantage over Sp2.

That's always the question I ask myself first. There are many products out there that have "improved" themselves right into uselessness. I think you and I have done well to skip Vista and go directly to Win7. Mechbgon http://www.mechbgon.com/security offers many low impact security tips as XP becomes more vulnerable. But there are some http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2200576&highlight= that consider using xpsp2 almost criminal; you may hear from them.

I use XP for my workstation, and Linux for my servers (most) so I voted both. :sneaky:

I'm kinda wanting to go 7 so I can at least get used to it so it's easier to support, but I have no reason to upgrade until I build a new PC. That and it just occurred to me now, I don't have to support computers anymore with my new job anyway.
