Ok guys I have picked out 2 motherboards I just need you to help me decide

Asus P4B266 or the Gigabyte 8IRXP The gigabyte won Anands editors choice award so I leaning heavily towards that board (even though the Asus was not in that line up). The Gigabyte is also slightly cheaper if you factor in the nic that is already included vs the Asus where you need to buy a seperate add-on (haven't been able to find it yet).

Thanks

Well between the ASUS and the Gigabyte, I'd probably go with the ASUS, because they seem to have a lot better support, but I can't really compare cause I've never owned a Gigabyte board. That model certainly has a lot of nice features all built in.

How about the MSI 845-Ultra ARU (or AR). It's got the Promise ATA133 controller, and it's red

Not to mention it's cheaper then the Asus. I'm thinking about going with the ARU. I've always had good luck with MSI boards.

Well, it's a matter of weather ocing or features takes priority. Frankely the 8IRXP hits with all DIMM's populated just short of 133fsb and frankely at 130fsb the PCI bus is gonna be waaaaayyyyy out of spec and really, I'm not certain it's the best ocing board. So really it's ocing, or feature's. You make the call, both are solid boards and I'd recommend both of them, it's just a matter of choice.

Anand says the 8IRXP overclocks well, and that the 845 chipset is stable as all get out. That makes the big list of features all the more appealing. Mine shipped Friday.

I would go for the Asus board... its probably the cheapest 845D board out there, as Newegg has the no lan no sound C version for $117! (What?! ASUS having a cheap board? NEVER!) And Its made with normal Asus high standards.

The Gigabyte board looks pretty damn solid also, but at that price for an Asus, its almost impossible to pass up

Anyone know the overclockability of the Asus board with 2 or 3 dimms? The MSI seems to overclock the best reaching 140 Mhz fsb while the Gigabyte can only hit 130. Quite a problem since I intend on buying a 1.8 or a 2.0 Ghz processor.

here.

As for the Asus Xbit tested it @ 172 MHz with 1 stick of DDR. I am hoping that with two-three sticks the Asus will test to about 150 MHz. Otherwise the MSI is next on my list.
